5 Must-Have Accessories for a Film Wedding Photographer
1. Handheld Light Meter
Many film cameras have unreliable or no built-in light meters. A handheld incident or spot meter ensures consistent, accurate exposure across all your cameras—making developing, scanning, and editing much easier.
2. Pen and Paper
Take notes during shoots—especially in tricky lighting situations—so you can learn from them later. Use a pen that writes on film canisters to label pushed rolls or match notes to a particular film.
3. Neutral Density (ND) Filters
You can’t change film speed mid-roll, so ND filters (2-stop and 4-stop) help you shoot wide open in bright light, perfect for outdoor wedding shots.
4. Sky-Darkening Filters
A detailed sky can turn a good photo into a great one. Use a polarizer for colour film or a yellow/orange filter for black and white to add depth and contrast.
5. Small Tools
Loose screws can make life difficult. Keep a mini screwdriver and Allen key handy for quick fixes—especially for tripods or camera parts.
Bonus: Lens Cloth
Always have one ready to wipe off rain, dust, or fingerprints.
