We had a great day on Thursday visiting the Cornbury House Horse Trials ( as is customary I have put together a quick slideshow of my phone snaps.). It's an event in the British Evening calendar that is quite local ( on the Charlbury road near Blenheim/ Woodstock) and the big names in eventing are taking part so it will only grow in status. (The GB team were well represented but it still had such a good "local" feel as it's not got all the hype (yet) like Burghley, Badminton, Blenheim etc. We will be back next year. We went on the Thursday which is a quieter day in terms of visitor numbers although all the events were going on.

It was a truly fabulous day at Salon Prive at Blenheim Palace on Saturday (5th Sept).I attended not as a photographer but as a proud owner of my Jaguar XK and a member of the Jaguar Enthusiasts Club. It was great to amble around all the wonderful club paddocks (marques such as Jaguar, Aston Martin, Maserati, Ferrari, Porsche, Lamborghini, Lotus, Alfa Romeo etc etc) and of course the Salon Prive Concours "supercars" on the South Lawn, Here's a flavour of the day with a few "snaps" taken on my phone

And here we are at the end of another month, and its time to select an Image of the Month for August. An enjoyable month, not least because it contained another ("milestone" ) birthday for me. It also contained some enjoyable and memorable events and excursions. Although it was tempting to post another image of the Jaguar on one of those outings, I've chosen an image from our trip to London, and specifically from our visit the the British Museum. Not of the many exhibits and artworks but an artistic photograph of the eye-catching architecture.. As you enter the wonderful British Museum from the Main Entrance ( Great Russell Street) and head into the Great Court you are met with the cacophony of noise from the myriad of amazed visitors and, as you look up to to the reading room, you then see the captivating ceiling structure that crowns the Queen Elizabeth II Great Court. . Designed by ( Norman) Foster & Partners it is a tessellated, freeform grid structure that bridges the gap between the museum's historic wings and the central circular Reading Room. It actually comprises 3312 unique glass triangular segments. For the architecture nerds my research indicates that there are 4,878 individual steel members connected at 1,566 unique node joints. It covers a two-acre space measuring 100 meters by 72 meters, creating the largest covered public square in Europe

It should come as no surprise that my acquisition of a classic Jaguar has resulted in many photographs from our adventures and activities often and understandably featuring said vehicle. Consequently, the choice of an Image of the Month for July for my website (and shown here) was not complicated or time consuming. The July image comes from our return visit to North Norfolk and specifically our recent stay at The Bucks Arms , adjacent to the magnificent Blickling Hall.

We say hello to July and look forward to a few summer outings. One outing in June that provides the Image of the Month for June was our day out at Highnam Court Classic Car Show. A great and local (Gloucestershire) event for people who enjoy classic cars in lovely surroundings, and where it was only natural to exhibit my own pride and joy.

As we enter the sixth month of 2026, I can look back on the events of May. A particular highlight is the acquisition of a special car and stemming from that a fabulous road trip to Scotland via York and Northumberland. The chosen Image of the Month for May is the view of Alnwick Castle from the bedroom window of our hotel in Alnwick. ( I was tempted to use an image of the car) 😉

The month of May has arrived. Time then to review images from April and our visit to Avebury in Wiltshire proved quite naturally to be a good source of images. An area with a long and fascinating history, Avebury is a world heritage site with its prehistoric henge and stone circles and a16th century Manor House.

March has marched on and looking back it seems, unsurprisingly, that outings inevitably involved eating out. Consequently a trawl through photos taken this month seem to centre on meals enjoyed. So, the Image of the Month this time comes from one of quite a few visits to Tower Barn Café at Broadway Tower Rather than the famous and photographic tower itself this artist image features their (towering) toad-in-the-hole with onion gravy ...in it's own way a work of (culinary) art.
