Here are a couple more awards from the Guild of Photographers Image of the Month competition.

First up is a Silver Award from Sarah and Jason’s Briery Wood Wedding. Then there are two Bronze Awards, the first from Kinmount House a couple of summers ago and finally a more recent wedding at Gilpin Lake House.

To have your work judged by your peers is a great way to celebrate what you do well, learn what you need to work on to improve and raise the bar on the quality of your work. That allusive Gold Award is still out there and I’ll keep striving to get there one of these days.

I’m quite often derogatory about myself and my skill set as a photographer, but I genuinely care and want to be the best I possibly can be. I might be a grumpy old idiot but I am quite good at what I do 😉

Introducing Hannah-peg and Sean-peg, the newest members of the Jaye-Peg Collective, who were married at Merewood Country House last week.

If you haven’t been to Merewood Country House before it’s halfway up, at the end of a long sweeping driveway. If you walk up and down the driveway a couple of times a day it’s great way to get your exercise goals in. Hannah and Sean chose not to, why would you on your wedding day.

Maybe the next time I’m at Merewood I can organise a race with the wedding team. I’m sure that Rhiannon would be well up for seeing who can get to the top the quickest from the bottom or driveway. It could be the beginnings of a wedding tradition that absolutely no one will ever take part in.

Just a thought.

Running up hills aside, we also popped down to Windermere for photos. I got the drone out and did about of droning on a jetty. I also flew the drone to take photos. By the time we got back to Merewood I had also fully converted Sean, a self-confessed petrolhead, to how brilliant EVs are! Definitely true that last bit. Honest.

Here’s more from Alistair and Gary’s day at Holesfoot last weekend.
I’ll most probably have to share photos and content over a few posts. After such a brilliant wedding I’m struggling to narrow it down to something with a bit of story telling that’s concise.

Holesfoot is one of those wedding venues where you’re never short of ideas. Add to that a fab couple and some truly great wedding guests, and nearly every photo is a keeper. I’m surprised I’m still not stuck editing trying to cull the photos down a bit.

I’ll start with a snap shot of the fabulous wedding of Alistair-peg and Gary-peg. Yes I’m still doing the “peg” thing. No I’m not planning on stopping anytime soon. The dog-peg does roll his eyes each time I mention it, but what does he know, he’s a daft labrador.

The hugest of huge congratulations to Alistair and Gary who’s wedding was at the very fabulous Holesfoot at the weekend. Not only that but their photos have all been fully edited and will be uploaded to their new home very soon.

I’m good like that.

Mostly.

Here’s the finished photo that I posted the, definitely not a drone selfie, reference photo for the other day. It looks much better with two gorgeous grooms, instead of me trying to be funny.

It’s not about me though is it, it’s about Alistair and Gary as it should be. They had the best of days celebrating in style at Holesfoot and I’ll post more photos soon to show a bit more of their day. But for now here are a couple of newly weds having a lie down. It’s exhausting getting married!

I am definitely not taking a drone selfie in this photo. Nope. Not me. Not anything I would ever do.

I am definitely not the person lying down on the jetty with a drone remote in one hand. Definitely not me lying there with a drone hovering above me. I mean what kind of person would take the time to even think of doing something like that.

Maybe I should get a life. The old one is wearing thin.

Look at this idiot doing another drone selfie! 🤦‍♀️ Not only that but the idiot is photobombing a newlywed couples photo! It’s outrageous and shocking behaviour. If you ask me they should have pushed that idiot off the jetty and into the water! That would have learned it!

Hi my name is Jaye and I’ve been doing drone selfies again. This time at Storrs Hall to whom I profusely apologise for lowering the tone while I was there. For tomorrow’s wedding I have already decided in advance how I’m going to take a drone selfie at the venue. It will be brilliant and epic and pretty sad too. I need to get out more.

It’s gallery delivery day for Mark and Nancy. AKA, Mark-Peg and Nancy-Peg. Welcome to the collective Mr and Mrs T.

Their wedding is one that featured Roger the T-Rex, and forever shall be remembered as the wedding with the tents on top of a fell with a t-rex. Mostly because the wedding took place in a super secret location (I have been sworn to secrecy on this) on a fell top near Tebay, Special Event Tipis supplied the tipi and bell tent that everything took place in, and the guest of honour (as decided by me) was Roger. Every wedding needs a guest of honour who is a dinosaur.

It was a hot and sunny one too. Which was perfect for the location and also meant that we were able to leave the well thought out wet weather plan aside. I did need a shower when I eventually got home so maybe a little rain would have helped cool things down a bit.

I’m only sharing a small selection of photos, with some incoming BTS over the next few days. I’ve promised to be discreet on what I share as well as who can be seen in the photos. I’m good like that.

I’ve levelled up and dinosaurs at weddings is my new thing. Especially if it’s a T-Rex with cute little legs. It’s almost certain that I will now be telling anyone I talk to about weddings and photographing them, about the day that I met Roger. That’s right Roger the T-Rex, or Roger-peg as he is now known.

Yes I’m still doing the “peg” thing. No it still definitely isn’t a cult.

Roger-peg was a plus one at a very hot and wonderful tipi wedding in the fells near Tebay at the weekend. I’ll share more from that soon. Including some BTS that I remembered to take this time (although I am yet to check the footage for usability).

I love all the wonderful variety of guests at weddings. You get so much diversity and colour that’s incredibly fun to be around and to document on camera. It’s those people, human and non-human, that make weddings brilliant. As much as I still love to see dogs at weddings too, dinosaurs are definitely my new thing.
