On Saturday Bruce Robertson and myself went to Thaxted to photograph the St John the Baptist Church as part of the RPS Talk, Walk, Talk scheme.
Personally, I found that the afternoon teas that were being served inside and the impending beer festival which was taking place that evening complete with a Pie & Mash stall which was being set up outside off putting and wasn't particularly conducive for taking photographs inside the church and it somewhat spoiled the muse.
The strong light which was streaming through the wonderful stained glass windows made controlling the exposure tricky, but did mean that you didn't have to worry about using a tripod.
However, I did find several features inside the church interesting as was some of the medieval architecture.
With all of the activity going on outside the church I wasn't particularly interested in taking any images, plus the strong light and featureless sky didn't do any favours. So here is my take on the afternoon.
I'd love to go back to Thaxted on a lovely summers evening to photograph what is despite the constant stream of overhead air traffic landing at Stansted Airport, a beautiful village.
