On Saturday Bruce Robertson and myself went to Thaxted to photograph the St John the Baptist Church as part of the RPS Talk, Walk, Talk scheme.
Personally, I found that the afternoon teas that were being served inside and the impending beer festival which was taking place that evening complete with a Pie & Mash stall which was being set up outside off putting and wasn't particularly conducive for taking photographs inside the church and it somewhat spoiled the muse.
The strong light which was streaming through the wonderful stained glass windows made controlling the exposure tricky, but did mean that you didn't have to worry about using a tripod.
However, I did find several features inside the church interesting as was some of the medieval architecture.
With all of the activity going on outside the church I wasn't particularly interested in taking any images, plus the strong light and featureless sky didn't do any favours. So here is my take on the afternoon.
I'd love to go back to Thaxted on a lovely summers evening to photograph what is despite the constant stream of overhead air traffic landing at Stansted Airport, a beautiful village.

A selection of images taken on our week in The Orkney Islands. From our remote coastal cottage on the cliffs at Sounth Ronaldsay we covered most of the main island taking in Kirkwall, Stromness, Maeshowe, Ring of Brodgar and several more places including taking the ferry over to Hoy.
I love the sea and find the rhythm of the crashing waves most theraputic and these images include a subset of 5 more detailed shots of the breaking waves.
Hope you enjoy them and any comments are most welcome.

I have spent this afternoon updating my website and adding a couple of galleries, one a digital copy of a book I have put together of our holiday photos and the other of my 2026 Calendar.

It’s probably best viewed on a laptop or iPad.

Any feedback is most welcome.

After years of living in denial and hiding my photography awards away, my success this year has made me want to celebrate what I have achieved in the past.
So this morning I went and bought a floating shelf and have put everything out on display again.
I’m not going to hide in my shell anymore!

It’s been a while since I last produced a calendar of my photography, but I’ve been encouraged to do one this year and have spent today adding it to my website along with an Online Shop which takes PayPal, Apple Pay and Debit/Credit Cards. (That wasn’t as easy as it looked, but I got there in the end)

I’ll be taking orders until early November and they will be despatched in early December.

Want to have a look, then click the link below.

As promised on Saturday, I have now edited the images I took at Canary Wharf and Greenwich on Friday.
There's quite a mixed bag, ranging from polarised wide angle shots of the office blocks, to abstract patterns and shapes of reflections and shadows to candid images of some of the characters I saw along the way.
Looking through the set, I do seem to have converted quite few of them to black and white. I'd have to say I'm most pleased with them.

It has been a mammoth task, but I have now finished editiding the last set of images which I took in Vietnam.
There is a write up on my website which can be viewed here:

but for your convenience I have also added them here .........
