Good Morning Coniston in the incredible and ever beautiful Lake District.

This is an aerial shot of sun up over Coniston which sits on the west of Coniston Water. Coniston Water in Cumbria, England is the third largest lake in the English Lake District. It is five miles (8 km) long, half a mile (800 m) wide, has a maximum depth of 184 feet (56 m), and covers an area of 1.89 square miles (4.9 km2). The lake has an elevation of 143 feet (44 m) above sea level.

My 6 year old son and I were driving together on Monday evening, it was lovely and sunny and out of the corner of my eye I spotted that unmistakable gliding of a barn owl in a field near the road. I hurriedly told my son to look out the window but it was too late and he missed it, he looked gutted. So I decided to head to the end of the road, go round the roundabout and head back to see if we could get a glimpse. As we approached we got an amazing view as it hunted along the hedgerow just near the road and seeing my boys face was priceless.
🦉
It reminded me of the times I’ve spent seeing and photographing these amazing birds. It was 2015 when I saw my very first wild barn owl and I was fortunate to get some fairly good shots. Here’s one I’ve not shared before from that sunny evening in May. Seeing the barn owl this week brought back a lot of good memories and nudge that I should get out and take more wildlife pictures!

I was recently asked if I had any shots of The Works in Redcar that could be printed and framed. This isn’t area I’ve photographed much but looking back I found this image that I took a few years ago but never shared. I think it’s going to look great framed and on the wall.

A shot from my time on The Isle of Skye. Not quite the sunrise I was hoping for at The Quiraing but a great place to visit with some rugged scenery - a good reminder of the power of mother nature.

The whole of the Trotternish Ridge escarpment was formed by a great series of landslips; the Quiraing is the only part of the slip still moving, the road at its base, near Flodigarry, requires repairs each year.

Sundown at Winnats Pass on Friday. The name is a corruption of 'wind gates' due to the swirling winds through the pass. It lies west of the village of Castleton, in the National Trust's High Peak Estate and the High Peak borough of Derbyshire. The road winds through a cleft, surrounded by high limestone ridges.
