…got married yesterday!!! The absolute best day was had for Chris Hand & at the fantastic Cheshire Woodland Weddings 🖤

It’s hard to know where to start. Every single second of the day was filled with adventure! Including a beautiful owl ring bearer, archery, axe throwing, ice creams, segways, a falconry display and just plain shenanigans. I honestly had the most incredible fun filled day celebrating with J&C and their wonderful family and friends.

I think I also need to take a moment to mention Chris’ speech/movie… I have never, in my ten years of shooting weddings, actually SOBBED at a speech. Like uncontrollable sobbing and had to take myself away. Luckily, it turns out, it got everyone else too. I don’t think there was a dry eye in the building. Absolutely smashing job 🤩🤘🏻

This day was just such a good time. From Bridgford Hall to The Canal House, beautiful people, absolute chaos in the best possible way, and Joey’s speech still living rent free in my head 🤘🏻🥹

I pride myself on being mostly a documentary style wedding photographer but I realise I tend to share a lot of portraits and images where I’ve prompted my couples or groups in a certain way as they make my grid look pretty. ⚡️ALT WEDDING AWARDS⚡️

I was awarded a commended title for going ‘above and beyond’ at the awards and honestly? I am not okay 🥹🖤

As part of the award, I got to read through testimonials written about me by my couples. I sat there and read every single one and I was just… completely overwhelmed 🖤 Reading their words, learning even more about what our time together meant to them, finding out the impact I’d made without even knowing, it was A LOT (in the most beautiful way) 🥰

I found out things about my couples I didn’t even know. What the whole experience meant to them. The impact I’d made without even realising. And I genuinely had no idea.

The thing is… I love my couples SO much. Like, properly, genuinely, from the bottom of my weird little heart. So to find out that love lands on the other side? Everything. Absolutely everything 🤩🫶🏻

Thank you. Truly. Your words mean more to me than any award ever could🤘🏻🖤

That being said though, to the Alt Wedding Fair Awards team and - I am absolutely buzzing to have my work recognised by such an incredible community. Couldn’t be happier. This means the world. Thank you, thank you, thank you 🏆🖤

⚡️DO WE REALLY NEED AN ENGAGEMENT SHOOT?⚡️

It’s one of the questions I get asked most often by couples planning their wedding.
And honestly? I get it.

If having your photo taken sounds about as appealing as stepping on a Lego barefoot, adding another photoshoot to your wedding to-do list might seem completely unnecessary.

But engagement shoots aren’t really about the photos…

Okay, the photos are a pretty awesome bonus 🤩 But they’re also about getting comfortable in front of the camera, getting to know each other before the wedding day, having a laugh, and realising that having your photo taken doesn’t have to be awkward.

🤘🏻 Phone is on silent, I’ll still be lurking because I genuinely don’t know how to fully switch off, but responses to emails and messages are going to be slow. Very slow. Sun lounger slow.

…got married yesterday!!! 🤩🤩🤩

and got married at the beautiful Bridgford Hall, and after making the most of the gorgeous setting, it was off to the absolutely stunning Canal House in Nottingham. The whole day was just a proper good time from start to finish. Stunning venues, beautiful people 🙌🏻

Tegan looked flipping spectacular with make up by the wonderful and hair by the lovely 🖤

I do need to give a special mention to Joey’s speech though. This man is known for dropping emo lyrics into everyday conversation and he did NOT disappoint. Fully delivered. Joey you did good 🤘🏻🥹

Tegan and Joey - you two and your whole crew were just the best. So glad I got to be there for it 🖤
