After nearly a year away, I’m finally sharing my photography again. This is Fanal Forest, Madeira – a place that felt like stepping into a dream, now brought back to life from the depths of my hard drive.
The truth is, I’ve had a tough time with social media. The rise of AI 'art,' algorithms that seem to bury anything that isn't a 5-second reel, and the frustration of seeing my work reach just a fraction of the audience I spent years building all made me lose heart. So, I stepped away, deleted the app, and spent time offline.
But whilst the break was good for me (despite losing over 1000 followers), I couldn’t ignore the reality that letting my work sit unseen on a hard drive meant it was reaching no one – even less than with Instagram’s frustrating algorithm. Even if it’s only a handful of people, or just one person who connects with this image; that’s reason enough to share it.
So here’s to 2025: finding a healthier balance with social media, and celebrating real photography and art in a world drowning in the artificial. If you care about authenticity too, a like, comment, or share makes a difference; it helps keep real art alive.
Thanks for sticking around. Let me know what you think of this comeback shot.
