Artificial light-pollution has had a massive impact on our night skies here in Scotland - as an astrophotographer, I know only to well how frustrating & heartbreaking it is - to have areas of sky where thousands of stars should be visible, drowned out by bright and often unnecessary lighting. Not to also mention the impact it has on human health and wildlife too.
We are fortunate that in some parts of our country we boast the darkest skies in Europe - these areas should be protected and more should be done throughout the nation to evaluate current lighting in towns and cities as well as educate on better options that have less of an impact.
I am proud to be a committee member on the newly formed campaign, founded by fellow astrophotographers Joshua Lawson & Daniel Main.
