When I was little, I was obsessed with Disney princesses. 👑✨

I’d watch those films, see the huge castles and completely lose myself in the idea of one day getting to visit somewhere like that.

And honestly… I still love Disney and castles just as much now. 😂

The funny thing is, I never could have imagined that one day I’d get to visit castles as part of my actual job. And not just visit them… I get to photograph people getting married in them. 🥹

Markree Castle, Killeavy Castle, Bellingham Castle, Cabra Castle, Darver Castle, Barberstown Castle and so many more.

It still feels a little bit surreal sometimes.

There’s something pretty special about driving up the avenue to one of these incredible places, camera in hand, knowing I’m about to spend the day photographing someone’s real life fairytale.

So if little Melissa could see what I get to do now… I think she’d be pretty happy. 🥹🏰👑

And yes, I’d still absolutely choose the Disney castle. 😂

For those of you who don’t know me yet… hi 👋🏻

I’m Melissa, I’m a wedding photographer, I live right beside the border and I genuinely LOVE weddings. 🥰

And thankfully, that means I get to travel all over Ireland doing what I love most.

From Portrush to Kildare, Donegal to Dublin, and plenty of places in between… if you’re planning a wedding somewhere in Ireland, I’m always up for the road trip! 🚗📸

So if you’re looking for a photographer who’ll bring the good vibes, help you feel completely at ease and have a whole lot of fun with you along the way… you might just have found her. 💕

Honestly, getting messages like this from my couples makes my heart so happy 🥹🤍

Aislinn & Andy had the most amazing day. They got married in County Armagh before heading over to Carlingford Brewery for their reception, and it was just the perfect mix of relaxed, fun and completely them.

I had such a brilliant time with these two, from their pre wedding shoot right through to their wedding day. There was lots of laughing, lots of exploring and absolutely no pressure to spend their day posing for photos.

So when I opened this message from them afterwards… 🥹❤️

It honestly means SO much to know they loved their photos and, more importantly, that they enjoyed having me there with them.

Thank you Aislinn & Andy for trusting me with such an important part of your day. You two were an absolute dream! 🤍

And yes, I may have had a little tear reading this one! 🥹

Wedding venues, can we talk about this one? 👀

There’s one little thing I’ve noticed at some wedding venues that can really spoil one of the biggest moments of the day for couples…

The grand entrance to the top table! 🥂✨

Sometimes a member of staff walks in front of the bridal party and then the newlyweds, leading them towards the top table.

The problem is, they’re then right in front of the couple in all the photos and video. And sometimes, let’s be honest, they don’t exactly look thrilled to be there either! 😂

So my little tip for couples and bridal parties is this…

Let the staff member walk on a little bit before you start your entrance.

Or even better, venues, just give the couple and bridal party clear directions and let them follow their photographer or videographer.

They really can find the top table without a human sat nav walking directly in front of them! 😂

It might seem like such a tiny thing, but that big entrance is such a brilliant moment.

Everyone is cheering, the music is playing, the couple are making their way in and we want the photos and video to show them having their big moment, not a member of staff walking in front of them. 🤍

So, a little plea from your friendly wedding photographer…

Venues, can we leave the big hurrah to the couple? 🥂

It makes such a difference to the photos, the video and, most importantly, the experience for the couple.

And couples, if you’ve got this coming up at your wedding, maybe have a little chat with your venue beforehand! 👀

A rainy wedding day at Bellingham Castle, but absolutely nothing was going to stop Allison & Dylan having the best day! 🥰

The rain decided to arrive just as Allison arrived for the ceremony, so the outdoor plans were quickly rearranged by the incredible team at Bellingham. Before we knew it, they were saying “I do” in the beautiful castle ballroom, surrounded by all their favourite people. 🤍

And the rain basically stayed with us ALL day 😂 but thankfully, when you’re getting married at Bellingham Castle, there are so many beautiful indoor spots that it really wasn’t an issue.

They also got to spend loads of time with their guests during the drinks reception, which is exactly what you want on your wedding day. No disappearing off for ages for photos, just enjoying the day, having a laugh and being with the people they had invited to celebrate with them.

Then at around 8pm, the rain finally decided to give us a little break.

So we grabbed the opportunity and headed outside for those images Allison & Dylan really wanted, with the stunning castle as their backdrop.

And I’m so glad we did! 🥹

Sometimes you just have to wait it out and take your chance when the weather gives you a little window.

Allison & Dylan, thank you so much for inviting me to your wedding. I had the best time with you both and I’m so excited to share more from your beautiful day! ❤️

Tomorrow I’m back at Bellingham Castle for Alison & Dylan’s wedding, but first, a little look back at their gorgeous pre wedding session at The Argory 🤍

These two were such good fun to photograph and I love how relaxed they were by the end of our time together. A pre wedding session is such a lovely way for us to get to know each other, have a bit of craic and get used to being in front of the camera before the big day.

And now it’s finally here! Tomorrow they’re saying ‘I do’ at one of my favourite wedding venues in County Louth, Bellingham Castle, and I absolutely cannot wait. 🥹🤍

Roll on tomorrow! 🥂✨

POV: Your wedding photographer becomes your unofficial bridesmaid 😂🤍

Because being your wedding photographer is about so much more than taking photos.

I’m fixing dresses, fluffing veils, carrying bouquets, rounding up family members, calming nerves, hyping you both up and probably getting involved in about 47 things I was never actually asked to do 😂

I want you to feel completely looked after on your wedding day, while still having the freedom to enjoy it and actually be yourselves.

So yes, you get a wedding photographer… but you also get your very own unofficial bridesmaid. 🤍

Northern Ireland wedding photographer tip: sometimes even the best laid wedding plans change 🤍

Claire & Marco’s wedding was a very rare one for me. Due to a change of date, I was no longer available to photograph their wedding myself, so for the first time ever I had an associate photographer step in for me.

And I couldn’t have been happier to have Northern Irish Wedding Photographer there to capture their day.

Claire & Marco got married in Claire’s family parish before heading to the Glenavon Hotel in Cookstown to celebrate with their family and friends.

They also made a little stop back at Claire’s family home for portraits, which I absolutely loved. There’s something so special about having part of your wedding photography somewhere that already means so much to you.

Here are three of my favourite little glimpses from their day 🤍

And Claire & Marco, thank you for trusting me with your wedding photography, even when I couldn’t physically be there. I’m so happy you have these photographs to tell the story of your day.
