A clear evening & an opportunity to go and enjoy a sunset.
During a nice solo evening stroll to a quiet part of Glydderau, I bumped in to some aspirant mountain leaders who were consolidating their skills after some great training with Smyrff Merfyn Jones and Dewi Emlyn

The planet's greatest sporting tournament started in Wales at 645 on Friday (David H Lewis !) with an exciting match between Wales and Scotland Under 20s. Wales' dragon roared early but choked on a thistle for a while before breathing fire at the end. A throughly enjoyable evening at Colwyn Bay, but sadly all the remaining Under 20 matches & all men / women's matches are in Cardiff.

But the tournament continues in March in north Wales with the Under 18's 6 nations.

A short hill trip this afternoon to remember the crash of Liberator 42-99991 'Bachelors Baby'. On the afternoon of 7 Jan 44, it hit a ridge whilst completing its journey from Palm Beach, via RAF Valley, to an operational base.
On a cloudy afternoon, with a faulty compass, the pilot 'Ace' Shultz was trying to follow a B-17 in bad weather, when his aircraft clipped high ground subsequently impacting Moelfre. Five of the crew, and their dog Booster, died in the impact & fire. Others were luckier, with one man going over high ground to descend to Rowen for help . Help actually came from the much closer Llanfairfechan.

Happy 200th anniversary to HM Coastguard.

I've not got any pictures from 200 years ago, but I did catch this a few years ago. A framed version was presented at Farnborough by Lockheed Martin to the MCA / Coastguard to celebrate the anniversary of the SAR Helicopters in Scotland.

Now the mountains are a little quieter, with some autumnal light, a little trip to Ogwen was an enjoyable day.

A great evening photographing Liz Saville Roberts AS/MP visiting Aberglaslyn Mountain Rescue Team. Our Local MP visited the Team to find out about the work the volunteers do, providing rescue in all weathers and helping out the local community.
This was also an opportunity to find out about the grant application supported by The National Lottery. The Team are very grateful for the support from the Lottery, local businesses and all the donors who contribute funds to keeping the team running.
