I love photographing little ones from this angle.

Not because they’re looking at the camera, but because they’re not.

The soft light, the concentration, the curiosity, the way they watch the bubbles drift past…

It’s often these quieter moments that parents end up loving the most.

“We’re quite camera shy…”

Honestly, if I had £1 for every time a family said this before their session, I’d probably have funded another lens by now.

The lovely thing is that being confident in front of a camera isn’t actually a requirement.

Most of the families you see on my page aren’t models. They’re mums and dads who were worried about feeling awkward, toddlers who didn’t want to sit still, and children who had their own ideas about how the session should go.

My job isn’t to make you pose perfectly.

It’s to help you relax enough to be yourselves.

So when messages like this arrive afterwards, they mean the world 🤍

One of the most common worries I hear before a newborn session is:

“But my eldest never sits still…” 🤍

And honestly? They don’t need to.

Sometimes they’re full of energy.
Sometimes they’re upside down.
Sometimes they’re running circles around us.

The goal isn’t perfect behaviour.

It’s capturing who they are in this season of life.

Because one day you’ll look back and remember the way they made everyone laugh, the way they couldn’t stop moving, and the excitement of becoming a big brother or sister.

The first baby still matters 🤍

One of the things I always make time for during newborn sessions is making sure older siblings feel involved too.

For many little ones, it’s a big adjustment. One day they’re the centre of everyone’s world, and the next they’re sharing cuddles, attention and family photos with someone very tiny.

That’s why I keep sessions relaxed, child-led and pressure-free. We capture those beautiful family photographs, but we also make space for giggles, breaks and letting them be themselves.

And often, those sibling images become some of the most treasured photographs of all.
