It rained on Rachel & Rob's wedding day. Did we care? We did not. Because they got married at The West Mill.

Confetti happened on their exit down the aisle. Group photos happened in The Gallery, the spacious reception area. Portraits embraced the industrial textures and fantastic window light in the Cotton Quarter on the top floor of the mill. And guess what? Just as I say to all my couples: it rarely rains all day. We got some pictures in the grounds later in the day.

I'll share more from this rainy wedding soon but I love these photos of an indoor confetti shot, mostly because later in the day Rachel said to me. "Emma, you should have seen my dress after the ceremony, it was covered in confetti. I nearly came to get you to take a picture" Babe, please! I got you. 😂

Let me tell you about Alice and Chris' wedding breakfast. After a high energy entrance including napkin (and guest) twirling, the bride and groom both did a speech and Alice revealed, with printed prop, the text she sent to her friends after her first date with Chris.

"GIRLS I don't want to jinx it but I genuinely think I met the man of my dreams yesterday. Please pray for me that this one works out. I've never wanted something to work out so much in my life. Xx"

Looks like one lucky girl got her wish!

They ended the wedding breakfast with a tiramisu tower and danced with each other while their guests played pass-the-parcel. So many memories made.

The big day is finally here for Beck and Lizzie and I'm off down the road to Darley Abbey to photograph their wedding at The River Mill. They've got some fun requests including portraits with pints of Guinness and football scarves. I think this is going to be a day full of personality and I can't wait. See you soon!

Saskia & Gary had the most gorgeous wedding at Donington Park Farmhouse last weekend. Highlights included a top-teir bridal party, helpful, fun and gorgeous groomsmen and a bridesmaid tag team whose speech made me cry tears of laughter. Full points for choosing your people, S&G! Amazing styling by Princess Occasions with a forest full of foliage and church candles galore. And my personal favourite: a professional lighting team to make the barn look as good as it ever has. I'll just put my portable battery flash back in my car then shall I?

Here's what the lovely couple had to say:
"Emma was incredible! She makes you feel so comfortable and also helps you with poses which is a god send! And the pictures???!!!! Honestly can’t recommend enough!!
All the way through the communication was fantastic... She spent so much time getting to know us and understanding our comfort zones. She was so patient with us and encouraging which made it so much easier!... Before the wedding we were sent a questionnaire to help her plan her shoot for the big day! There were things in there that I hadn’t even thought of!! Then, she arranged a call with us to see how we were feeling and asking about family dynamics and being so understanding and compassionate all the way through!
Then the big day, literal perfection! We had a new videographer and she was so kind and was a great support to him as well as us. After the portraits, she was like a secret photo assassin and she just blended in with everyone!..Thank you so much Emma!"

Feels like a million years ago that I took these two gorgeous examples for human beings out around the Derbyshire town of Melbourne for their pre-wedding shoot. I dragged them through a lot of mud and they did it with smiles on their faces. Tomorrow is their wedding day! Whoop whoop and I'm off to East Mids Barn Wedding Venue to capture every bloomin moment.

Is there a more romantic setting for a pre-wedding shoot than Newstead Abbey, former home of the great romantic poet Lord Byron?

With its 12th century architecture and stunning gardens, Molly, Kun and I had lots of inspiration for their pictures and spent a very happy hour exploring the Japanese and walled gardens.

This lucky pair are having, not one, but two weddings to include both their families and cultures in China and the UK. Still not entirely sure what they're not taking me to China with them, but I'll settle for the UK edition at stunning in September.

Sparklers and Marshmallows for two 🎇🍡
Okay, a couple of unpopular opinions:
1. Sparklers shots are better early evening when it's not pitch black and you can still see some of the environment.
2. You don't have to pull all your guests off the dancefloor to do sparkler or toasting marshmallows shots. Keep it personal, take a moment, make a memory that's just for the two of you.

These shots were taken where they set aside a few sparklers for every wedding party. What a lovely gesture...and a great opportunity.
