'Scottish Nature Photography Awards'
I am delighted to have two images shortlisted in this prestigious competition, and these will appear in their portfolio yearbook.

'Sgurr a Greadaidh' was in the Landscape category
After a freezing night in a bivi on the summit in the Cuillins, my reward was a beautiful sunrise. The soft dawn light was emparting a wonderfull glow, and I used its ridge lines to feed the eye through to the Trotternish ridge in the distance.

'Winter Ptarmigan' was in the Wildlife Portrait category.
I chanced upon this beautiful Ptarmigan in its pristine winter plumage while I was climbing to Cairn Gorm in the Cairngorms. I used a telephoto lens to isolate it in the pristine snow which was sparkling in the sunlight.
Many congratulations to all of the winners and other shortlisted entries.

An adventure of a lifetime!
A night Bivi on the Cuillin Ridge to catch sunset,& sunrise, both of which were amazing.
This is the summit of Sgurr Na Bannadich on the ridge with myself , on the left, and my guide Adrian Trendall in yellow.
The spot I am standing in is where I slept in my bivi. This didn’t quite go to my plan as I had missed packing my sleeping bag! I won’t do that again. But I did have lots of layers with me, so wrapped tightly in my bivi kept me going in -4 windchill. Well worth it for the views & experience though!

Just back from Scotland where I had the pleasure of spending a day in the company of Adrian Trendall an expert mountain guide, who was guiding me on a photography day in the Cuillins. Our original plan was to bivi up high for a night, but was scaled back due to winds and low cloud. So we opted for a long walk in from Sligachan, with the aim of sunrise on Sgurr na Strii. But the weather gods were angry and threw horrendous conditions at us. But we decided to persevere, and were so glad that we did. Here are some of my shots from an epic day in the Cuillins. A big thank you to Adrian for an epic day in the Cuillins. If you need a guide in the Cuillins, then he is your man. Check out his page All Things Cuillin

Landscape Photographer of the Year 2022
I am thrilled to announce that I have 2 images Commended in this years prestigious competition.
To put some context around this, the competition commends around 150 images and there were around 30,000 entries from an International field, so it is a prestigious achievement for all. This is now my 6th year of success, I can’t quite believe it.
Congratulations to all of the other excellent photographers that have been successful .

'Rounded' was taken in the Southern Uplands of Scotland. I loved the way that the rounded snow covered tussocks were mimicked by the rolling hills in the distance.
Two days earlier, myself and the bench, in the centre, were blown over by the ferocious winds. Fortunately much better conditions this time.

'Dancing Shadows' was taken in the Cairngorms on one of the best hill walking days I have ever had. The fast moving clouds were creating wonderful pattern on the hills. I used a telephoto lens to pick out this converging pattern.
