Today marks a huge personal milestone - December 1st marks the first anniversary of the surgery that changed my life. My first Stomaversary as they call it 😄 a year in which my life changed forever, for the better. To say that losing my colon after 32 years of continuous disease and the creation of my ileostomy gave me my life back doesn’t quite cover it. I haven’t felt this healthy since I was 13. I’m so grateful for the unwavering love and support my incredible wife and sons have given me.
I’ve been to Spain and Italy since the surgery, taken up coaching the local Under 7s team, been as active as I’ve been in years, all because of this new start I’ve been handed.
Surgery may sound scary and stomas may sound intimidating or even disgusting to some, but believe me when I say it’s one of the best decisions I ever made. Here’s to a bright, disease free future, all thanks to my little lifesaver ❤️
