Gortin Glens in the beautiful autumnal sunshine is something else isn’t it!
We’ve had a great time shooting some amazing family sessions here lately and we’re back again in November. On Sunday the 22nd we’ll be photographing another batch of families for our mini sessions.
We keep everything very chilled out, with our shoots taking the form of a short walk making the most of the scenery, and helping keep kids entertained.
Sessions are just £40 for each 20 minute shoot, and there’s only a limited number of spaces available.

These autumn family sessions have my heart right now! Any wonder this is by far the most popular season for people to have their family photos updated every year.
The colours, the light, the whole autumnal vibe is just on point.

As much as I try to be a fly on the wall and be as inconspicuous as possible, sometimes you have to stand your ground and be in the way a little bit. I don’t think anyone minded too much, and rhetorical choir seemed to get a giggle out of it as the came past me.
My take on things like this is ‘if it’s not getting in the way or causing a distraction we’re generally ok’. The ceremony had concluded, all that was left was the recessional walk down the aisle to exit the cathedral and we were finished with the ceremony part of the day.
The aisle shots are some of the most emotive of the whole day and to me carry a lid of symbolism…bride coming into the church up the aisle single, and leaving via the same aisle as a married woman with her husband in hand. So making sure we have a great spot is really important to me.

Shazz + Dwyer sneak peek
‘The coolest wedding couple I’ve ever seen!’ not my words, but my wife’s when she saw these photos, and I have to agree with her.
From their engagement session it was clear this was going to be a fantastic day, and it didn’t disappoint one bit! The guest list was a mixture of family and what I’d call the ‘alt-cool’ scene in Derry (I hope that’s the right way to describe them as that).
Shazz’s family are known to be musically talented and they took over the stage after the first dance to perform for the crowd, with Shazz taking the microphone till her dress burst, then coming back in her jeans to keep the session going 🙌
If you’ve seen their engagement photos we did, or indeed if you know Shazz, you’ll know she usually rocks a shaved head but she opted for a HAIRVIVI wig fitted by the unbelievably talented Olivia McVeigh
There’s not much shocks me on a wedding day this point but this transformation left me speechless for a second.
Congratulations once again to the happy couple, it was an honour to spend the day with you all.

☔️ What if it rains on your wedding day?

Here’s the thing… the rain doesn’t ruin your wedding day.

In fact, some of the most beautiful, romantic wedding photographs I’ve captured have happened in the rain. 🤍

Your wedding day isn’t about having perfect weather. It’s about the person you’re marrying, the people who love you, the laughter, the happy tears, the hugs, the dancing and all those little moments you’ll remember forever.

And if the heavens open? We’ll embrace it.

We’ll find beautiful light, duck under an archway, grab an umbrella, sneak outside for five minutes when the rain eases… and create photographs that feel like your day, rather than spending hours worrying about the forecast.

Because years from now, you won’t remember whether it rained at 2pm.

You’ll remember how you felt when you saw each other.

So if you’re planning a wedding in Northern Ireland and the forecast isn’t looking perfect, don’t panic. ☔️

Rain can be romantic. Rain can be magical. And your wedding photographs will still be beautiful.

Your only job on your wedding day is to have a bloody good time. ❤️

You don’t need to worry about whether you’ve remembered every photograph.

You don’t need to know how to pose.

You don’t need to spend half the day standing in a field while someone shouts, “Just one more!”

That’s our job.

We’ll help organise the important group shots, give you some gentle direction for your portraits and keep things moving without taking over your day.

Then we’ll disappear into the background and photograph everything else as it happens.

And before the wedding?

We’ll get together for your complimentary engagement shoot.

We’ll have a laugh, get you comfortable in front of the camera and get to know each other.

So when the big day comes, we’re not strangers turning up with cameras.

We’re the photographers you’ve already spent some time with — and hopefully by then, it feels a bit more like having a couple of friends there with cameras.

One week ago today .94 and William tied the knot in the fabulous St Columb’s cathedral in the heart of L’Derry in what for their guests will no doubt be something they’re talking about for a long, long time to come!
We covered photo and video for the celebrations, and it was a little less straightforward than a ‘normal’ wedding (if there is such a thing) with the majority of the guests there thinking they were going to a baptism rather than a wedding. So we had to be as discreet as possible setting up to try and avoid rousing too many suspicions…which is easier said than done with two photographers and multiple cameras in play.
