I’ve struggled the last three years to share any photos since my Daddy died, unless they were of him. I’ve basically stopped shooting anything outside of “work” since then too and have had a lot of anxiety based around that even.

I’ve lost a lot of love for photography in general. At least when it comes to my own.

I don’t know if it’s dealing with grief and the trauma of losing him the way we did, or because of my love of photography came from him, missing the chats we’d have about a particular film camera he had his eye on or sharing photos we liked with each other; it all felt massively pointless without him here to share it with.

I still feel that way. I’m trying to change it. 3 years seems like a long time to not be back to “normal” but there is no normal anymore really.

Not to sound overly morose but it’s been hard. It still is. But I’m trying to reignite that love again.

I’m allowing myself to stop and look at photos I see pop up on Facebook by other photographers I would normally pour over or send him.

I’d like to think it’s the start of something again. Hopefully it is. It may take a long time though. Could be another three years. Who knows. But at least for now, there’s a glimmer of hope for me yet.

As part of our programme for International Women's Day, Féile teamed up with Dove House Community Trust to produce 'Local Heroines', an exhibition that celebrates the teachers, shop workers, nurses, community workers, front line workers and neighbours who make our neighbourhoods so great. The exhibition will be launched at Pilots Row on Monday March 8th.

This is a Streets Alive Project funded by Urban Villages.

Gah.

So this is a bit of hard one for me. I hate asking people for lifts nevermind financial help.

As yese all know we lost my Daddy, suddenly, just over 6 months ago.

On top of dealing with losing him, all of us have either lost our jobs or the majority of our work this year. Funeral bills ain't cheap and at the mo, we're struggling a bit to help pay it off.

My sis has put together a wee page in the hope that we might be able to get a bit of a breather from payments in the run-up to Christmas.

This year has been super tough on everyone so we massively appreciate that you may not be in a position to help out. It's a tough one for me to ask but if you are in a position to donate anything small at all, it would be more appreciated than you know.

We hope to be throwing a bit of a party next year in memory of me Daddy with lots of dancing and merriment so hopefully, we can pay you back in drinks and fun in 2021.
