*Participant photos* We met online this week to share favourites from the Barbican photo walk. I love these images, such strong shapes, reflections, colours and tones. Well done everyone and thank you for letting me share them.

A little recce along Norwich's Riverside Walk ahead of tomorrow's least used lens photo walk. Looking forward to sharing some tips and helping my group get to grips with wide angles and telephotos that are just gathering dust in their camera bags.

I also have one space left if you'd like to join me.

It was such a joy leading this workshop yesterday at The Pennoyer Centre, helping my group get to grips with their smartphone cameras.

There were some lovely moments, such as working in pairs comparing different directions of light to capture beautiful portraits, and I especially enjoyed this section spent outside, encouraging them to use the black and white setting and look for patterns, structures and textures. Some wonderful images captured - from high contrast skies to an amazing monochrome bee.

Huge thanks to everyone who took part.

Next up, this Friday, I'm returning to Pennoyers to run a composition workshop. Two spaces left if you'd like to join me. More details are on their website.

Tonight was all about wonderful surprising reflections and patterns. Popped down to Lowestoft Beach ahead of the First Light Festival, so all the structures were up, including this metal frame that was reflecting the pinkish sky. And of course there were chairs!

One thing I always encourage my photo walkers to do is look closely at shiny surfaces from all angles to see what reflections can be found, and I loved trying this myself tonight, even if I did just have my phone camera on me. Next time you see s shiny painted door or beach hut, look along it and see what you can see!

The last session of my four-week creative workshop took place on Friday and it was great fun! The topic was shadows and we explored how light interacted with different objects and materials, allowing ourselves to experiment and play.

Huge thanks to my group of six, who took part, learning over the weeks all about DIY filters, reflection and refraction, painterly effects and shadows, with the studios at designermakers21 offering a creative backdrop to it all.

In October, I'll be running a new four-week workshop, focusing on different ways of seeing, such as angles, monochrome and trusting your eye. Details yet to be announced, but if you'd like to be kept informed, drop me an email at [email protected] or sign up to my mailing list via my website, www.lucykayne.co.uk. I'd love to see you there.

A lovely slow day spent in the darkroom at .22.

I had three rolls of film to develop, which I hadn't done in about 20 years, so it was all a bit nerve-wracking! Miraculously, they all turned out OK, no light leakages, and it was such a joy to see what I'd taken weeks after the event.

More than anything, I found myself completely absorbed in it all. Usually my brain is flitting around between a million things, but today, it was present. Amazing. I can't wait to go back.

Until we finished at 9 and turned round to see this apocalyptic sky creeping up on us! Incredible, and such a contrast to the view of the beach at the same time.

Huge thanks to my group for joining me tonight. It was an evening of learning, laughter and utter joy. Watching everyone get to grips with their cameras a little bit more and understanding long exposures and shutter speeds, was just brilliant. Well done everyone.

Let's hope the rain stays away for this evening's water and movement photo walk at Southwold - I'm feeling optimistic!

Looking forward to sharing some shutter speed techniques with my intrepid group.

We're going back!

I'm excited to announce a return to one of our favourite photo walk venues, a rather magical place that never disappoints.

Henstead Exotic Garden is a tropical haven tucked away in the Suffolk countryside, designed from scratch by its owner, Andrew, around 20 years ago. It's full of giant exotic plants, a huge variety of succulents, winding paths, water features, a summerhouse, many random objects and even a boat!

Join me on 25 August, when we'll spend a relaxed day at the garden, capturing the beautiful surroundings and some wonderful light. We'll have the place to ourselves to explore as much as we wish.
