COLOURS OF MALLORCA

It occurred to me on holiday that while I love the experience of a place when I’m there, when I think about that place it’s often in the colours that I associate with it.

In my head, Greece is the bold blues and bright whites of the islands; Scandinavia is the soft muted colours of natural materials; Italy is the warm ochre and terracotta of the Tuscan countryside.

And for Mallorca, it’s clearly the aquamarine of the sea and the jewel tones of the flowers - along with a couple of other faves!

💌 LITTLE LIFE POSTCARDS

I missed the vast majority of last spring, enjoying little snippets from my hospital bed and eventually from a wheelchair. So I’ve really been trying to make the most of it this year, being outside as much as possible (it might be sunny, but when will the temperature get the memo?!!) And the blossom has really been putting on a bit of show 🌸

These are just a few highlights from the last few weeks, including: a trip to our fave ; our Easter Sunday dawn service and breakfast; crafting some cute bunnies for my nieces; sunny spots at home; playing the music of Hans Zimmer; a minor (major 🤔) obsession with ; and playing at Record Store Day. Oh, and some blossom!!

It’s possible I may have to get the big camera out for those pink petals before the wind gets up and clears them all off 🌸🌸

M A R C H 1 2 t h

A year ago today, life as I knew it was most rudely interrupted. After 5 days of horrific back pain, I woke with no feeling in my lower body and legs. We promptly headed to A&E where an MRI showed I had an abscess wrapped around my spinal cord. I was rushed to the RVH for emergency surgery, spent a week in ICU followed by 6weeks on the spinal ward there, and was then moved to Musgrave Park Hospital for 10 weeks of rehabilitation care.
A year on, I am SO much better but my life has been changed forever. There is much I could write about this, but today I simply want to share some highlights of the past year with you. So here we go!

1. Me thinking I was going to be in hospital for a few days 😂
2. Safely through surgery and in ICU
3. Visits from my boys 🥰
4. Evening skies from my bedside
5. The hospital sweet and sour chicken - felt like my birthday when it was on the menu!
6. A wall of emotional support ❤️
7. in Musgrave Park
8. Day release trips with .j.b_1
9. Art in the garden with
10. All the books, tea and buns possible
11. Getting out to see and in Belfast
12. Celebrating getting home with my discipleship group 🥂🙏
13. Finally getting to St John’s Point with
14. Having my camera back in my hands 📷
15. Glitter bowler hats and jazz hands with at 🤗
16. Visitng family in Somerset 🍁
17. Christmas trees galore in
18. A family engagement 💍
19. The annual Strictly final with my peeps
20. Being able to walk down to the Giant’s Causeway and clamber over just a couple of stones!

There are so many ways I could look at this past year, but the good stuff honestly does outweigh the bad, and I am very grateful to be where I am right now ❤️

I’m definitely not a tree down on Boxing Day kind of person, I’m still fully embracing all things festive! It’ll be twinkly lights, candles and cosy days by the fire for me until we’re safely nestled in the new year.
So here’s a few photos from the last couple of weeks, since we’re really only on the fourth day of Christmas!

🎄 looking delightfully cosy in the twilight;
🎄 This year’s festive window hopefully bringing a little bit of joy to the street;
🎄 A bold little fellow in the coffee shop
🎄 Our porch looking festive with a mini wreath made by .smy
🎄 Seasonal florals inside
🎄 We went to see Die Hard in - still not convinced it’s a Christmas movie though!!
🎄 Carnival vibes at Belfast City Hall
🎄 Strictly final pres chez
🎄 More Strictly final fun, the girls are all getting so big 🥹
🎄 The best crafternoon with my nieces

I’ll be quietly waiting for the arrival of four calling birds at some point today, or at the very least, lolling by a fire reading magazines and working my way through the festive chocolate and cake!

Merry cosy vibes to you all, and a bah humbug to the taking the tree down crowd!!

November was full of little blessings and some new experiences. I think this year has definitely taught me that these are actually the best parts of life, and I am so thankful for all of them ✨

• A cosy night away in the Slieve Donard hotel
• The floofiest dog known to man
• A new phone
• One of many blustery walks along the pier
• A crazy day taking some photos at Lorne Estate
• Beautiful November light on the lighthouse
• First fires of the season with my peeps
• The Slieve Donard lit up like something from an Agatha Christie novel
• A very skinny Archie after the tats were removed
• Tackled the drawer of doom in the dresser
• Spied a little lifeboat tree on the building
• Christmas cake in the bag
• Practising night photography with one of my boys
• A photo of a festive dog which took a ridiculous amount of time to capture!

I am fully ready for the festive season, this year I just want all the lights and sparkle I can get after a year which has felt heavy and dark at times. The Christmas mugs are out, the special editions of my favourite magazines are stacked and ready, and the albums are locked and loaded for the car!! So come on December, I am ready for you 🎄

Sometimes a wander around a pretty town is the very thing you need. We had a lovely few hours in beautiful Frome, where I even managed to navigate the very steep Catherine Hill and its cobbles!

Fave things included:

1. is always one of my favourite windows to peruse.
2. is one of the best independent bookshops I’ve visited. Highly recommend!
3. Aforementioned Catherine Hill and its cobbles.
4 & 5. A coffee at and a mooch about . Alas hand baggage only means no actual purchases on these trips.
6. Excellent door and window combination.
7. and its excellent window
8. The best candle I’ve seen in yonks!
9. Oh hey, it’s me!
10. Glorious little pumpkins and gourds.

Hope you’re all having a fab Friday ❤️ xx

🍁Autumn Vibes 🍁

I know everyone says it, but this is absolutely my favourite time of the year. I’m an October girl and this is my season!

I think this year more than ever I’m noticing the light and the colours, maybe just because I can’t get out and about so freely. Or maybe it’s because I’m spending literal hours adding to my autumnal Pinterest board!

Whatever the reason, I’m ready for reds and golds and candles and blankets and books and fires and boots and socks (although they are really irritating my feet these days 🥴)

Happy Friday all 🍁🍂🍁

“You had me at ‘cute window’.”

Went to Hillsborough Castle Gardens again yesterday.
Took more photos in the amazing shed of dreams.
Could happily do the same again tomorrow!!

My friend took me on a glorious road trip this week. We scooted down the peninsula for coffee, sailed across to Strangford on the ferry, made holiday picnic rolls with brioche rolls (so fancy!) and ticked one of my local bucket list items off my list by visiting the lighthouse at St John’s Point!

It was the best kind of day, the unplanned type that involves lots of car chat, giggles and impromptu decisions. And the weather could not have been more perfect ☀️

I’m so lucky to have an absolute army of people in my corner who are up for the challenge of getting me out and about on my wobbly legs while I continue my rehab ❤️
