Aperture:

In photography, aperture refers to the size of the opening in the lens through which light passes. Aperture is measured in f-numbers, and it determines how much light is let into the camera and how much of the image is in focus. A larger aperture, indicated by a smaller f-number, allows more light to pass through the lens and results in a shallower depth of field, while a smaller aperture, indicated by a larger f-number, allows less light to pass through the lens and results in a greater depth of field. Aperture also affects the amount of light that reaches the film or image sensor, which in turn affects the exposure of the photograph.
