I walked around York one summer morning before the world awoke. 500 years ago this street would have been awake to many noises. But how beautiful to experience one of the oldest streets anywhere on that day. On the website their are a few more morning shots of York.

A walk in the Peak District

Sad to say but the lovely countryside around Towton is still as it was in March 29th 1461, when 28,000 men died in one day, at the Battle of Towton. The lone tree was where the Yorkist under Edward IV appeared and confronted the Lancastrian enemy to decide who would be king of England.
