Some weeks life just wants to stiff you.
Its been a bit of a whirl wind this week full of ups and downs, and finishing on landing back to reality.
The week started good! Woke uo to a letter from my mate at HMRC with a cheque with a little tax rebate +£200 happy days i thought glad we could possibly have a little treat.
Swiftly followed by
Jos van mot and repairs -£280
The next day Jo's van engine going bang,
Recovery -£80
Repairs -£650 ish
Then Jo has been feeling rough for a few weeks, thought we should get her an eye test. That resulted in new glasses, -£360
Then off to the drs- £19 on prescriptions
We completed the filming of a very time sensitive job that needs to go out tonight so have got all the editing done, and now Jos computer is dead and wont export it. -a hole day trying to get it working
So here we are, 9pm, and about to restart the hole thing again on simons computer so it can go out tonight as promised.
Little wins generally dont last long these days.
Fingers crossed next week goes a little better lol.
However I've noticed every problem above starts with Jo 🤣🤣 maybe I need to sell her to save some money 🤣

Fail to prepare, prepare to fail.
Well today started with a solid plan, swiftly turned upsidown, but evidence of why preparation always pays.

What started as a very busy, but manageable day. The plan, quick wedding meeting in the studio over coffee, load up Jo's van, pop to maidstone, film a funeral, come back, Jo to drop me in deal with photobooth for 1 prom then she was to go to another, upon completion pop back, pick me up and home for tea. The plan was solid, and would have worked well. So how did it really go, Simon woke up early, went to the studio, loaded the van early, then we did the quick meeting over tea, hopped in the van off to maidstone nice and early, then it all went belly up. Jo's van, having just successfully passed its MOT yesterday needing just 2 lightbulbs decided thats enough, merrily flying up lane 2 65 ish mph, klonk clank bang, dead. Bu**er. We rolled it into the lay-by, and Jo starts panic mode,
We're supposed to be at a funeral 40 minutes away in 2 hours.
But this is one of the things we plan for. Cameras brake, cars brake, things go wrong, and thats why we are early to everything.
While weve got very good AA cover and hire car, that can be a little slow. So make some calls, get a very fast lift back home, grab my van, race to Jo's van and swap everything over, pizza to maidstone, still 40 minutes before the start, set up, film service, back to Deal, drop jo to her prom, go to my prom, completed it, pick jo up, arrange recovery of dead van, go to dead van, sort recovery, drop it off, come home, now at 12:15 forget tea, bath then bed.
Not quite the plan we started with, but adaption, and always being early saved our asses today, and ensured we didnt miss this one chance to capture this funeral service for so many people that couldn't be there.
Anyway, thats the socials updated, here's Jo's van on route home.
in this van today.

If your going to have a band, get a good one. Thats the advice of the day I think. Having worked many years with many wedding bands, weve worked with some absolutly brilliant ones. But now jo and I are in a disagreement.
My vote, says this was possibly the best live performance, crowd interaction and brilliant performance of a band weve been to at a wedding to date. But from me absolutly brilliant night! The crowd absolutly loved it, we were singing along and dancing while still working and had a brilliant evening leading to some brilliant footage and photos for this album.
Can't wait for this one to hit the editing desk!
thankyou for being so brilliant, so accommodating with our ideas, and being great to work with!
Hope to cross paths again soon!

Emotional rollercoaster.
With each event i try something different with our wedding video work and I have to say its paying off.
Jo is currently watching my latest production and this one's a bit of an emotional roller coaster I wont lie.
Starting through prep building up into a very emotional first look. Then it drops into a toe tapping beat building on the fun of the afternoon, portraits and evening, building up into the big emotional finish.
Ive got to say im a bit proud of this one and as the photos prove,
Jo's desk is a message and it got her in the feels.

So if your waiting for your wedding film, in our favourite venue... its not far away 😉 x x

Somethings taken an unexpected turn.
Working on a wedding video currently and one thing I've always been fond of is good audio from ceremony and speaches. By good audio, I mean being able to hear the foot steps walking down the isle, the grooms voice croak as the nerves kick in, the shakes as the vowels exchange, but this wedding video im working on somehow somethings gone wrong, or did it go right?
Usually i put grooms mics just inside their jackets close enough tp their mouth to get the best possible audio without the ruffle of clothes moving about, now i get all sorts on the recordings, idle chatter, adorable comments to his bride and wife, and even comments on how great weve been during their conversations . Im not sure whats changed for this one, but somehow the entire way through the recording of the ceremony the mic has been in the right position against his chest so that i can hear the grooms heart beat. By heart beat I mean it starts slow, then bride arrives and its racing, then things relax as they sit for the church ceremony, then as they stand for the vowels its going flat out! He must have hit 180bpm at some points im sure! Now im a soppy romantic and think its lovely, the real reactions and physical emotions from a wedding that no photograph could ever portray nor any content creator will ever show. Now thats a side to video that I didnt even know I wanted to hear on the recording. Ive not decided as yet if I should embrace the heartbeat throughout parts of the ceremony, or edit it out, but its got me curious to know what the soppy among our followers think.
Cute real special touch, or
Distracting bin it?

Photo of us at what seems like our 2nd home this year at the stunning Solton Manor doing serious photographer stuff. And from the state of my shirt, id say it was warm 🥵 x x

We’re always getting asked what our photobooth looks like, and yes even as a photographer… I never have a photo of it 🤦‍♀️😂 so all set up for tonight and I got a snap on my phone - there we go; meet Frank. Built by photographer with quality in mind, well lit, high quality photos. Being open format means you can date to fit as many people in one photo as you like! I think the record has been in the twenties. Not too late for a last minute prom addition… does come with props I just haven’t put them out yet 🤣

Whether its open format booth with 6x4 prints, or HI key, black and white classic booth style prints we build our work around your vision.
Huge thankyou to Hayne House Kent Wedding Venue for having us back again, and a fantastic night for all!

What a week its been, and as always weve been terrible at posting.
We're in a very lucky place where business i feel has proved success and overcome the new business hurdles of all younger businesses. Having now passed 5 years old I think were at the point where the hard work is working for us, this passed weeks super busy with our wedding season, school photography, proms, cake smash shoots, and even as I type this Jodie is upstairs on a family portrait session.
This months achievements so far.
6 photobooth jobs completed,
Cake smash shoots completed
5 weddings all day photography completed
2 wedding all day videography completed,
Some Studio Family shoot completed
Full school portraits completed
16 wedding client meetings completed
1 bo***ir session completed,
1 business branding shoot completed

When people ask if were busy we genuinely really are, but its not happened by chance, but through working hard and consistently. We are so lucky to be in the business place we are currently in and it wouldn't be possible without every client and friend that invests in our business and helps us live our best life creating memories to treasure.
Weve an insanely busy year ahead already, building our business, its strength, and the security we can offer our couples and familys.
At some point we will pop up for air and a day or two off 🤣.
But for now, the studio is always like a fridge so what better way to embrace the Sunday heat by cracking on with the editing.
Love yall! Keep busy and keep working hard,
The tax man needs you!

Mums, dads and friends, were picking up more school work, yearly photos, proms, graduations and events, but as you will all know we rarely ever share children's photos. So we are looking for a couple of parents that are happy to use 1 or 2 images of their gallery for an upcoming advertising campaign to some more schools.
Even better if its from some of our recent school shoots
In exchange we are happy to give you a slot in our Xmas shoots this year in the studio. The photos will be used on a couple of local groups campaign posts, and on marketing material sent to schools directly. We wouldn't be able to name the children. And credit parents on posts.
Comment below if you would like to help us grow!
Love you all!
