Mark Henson Photography www.markhensonphotography.co.uk The UK countryside is a beautiful place. Thanks for looking! Mark :-)

I live on the edge of the Peak District which allows me easy access to some amazing landscapes. In no time at all I can be at the top of mam tor at 4 a.m or looking down from Bamford edge watching the sun go down over Ladybower reservoir! I try to show these landscapes at their best which means capturing them in complementary light whether it be the golden light of sunrise or the dramatic contrast

of threatening storm clouds. You will find mixed in with this collection some other favorite places of mine and I hope to add to this as time goes by....

I had a very enjoyable afternoon out and about last Sunday shooting our film cameras with my son Edd....we visited various places and ended up here before the rain came in then to retreat for a quick pint!.... in this scene there seems to be an apparent confrontation between good and evil!

I ventured out early Wednesday to shoot some film on my Pentax 6x7 medium format camera. I wasn't holding much hope for the conditions as I arrived at this spot to a blanket of mist...got to say its very disheartening sometimes when you make such an effort to get up early, drive out, walk to your supposed view point only to be greeted by a blanket of mist with no visibility.....but then when this happens and the mist suddenly lifts more than makes up for it.....

shot on Kodak gold 200, developed and scanned at home.

Here is another picture from a walk up onto over owler tor early one morning last week. A stunning location in the peak district which is usually a sea of purple heather at this time of year. Due to the lack of rain recently the heather is somewhat muted but still has a subtle beauty in the purple, greens and golds.
Shot on Kodak gold 200 film, Pentax 6x7 medium format camera developed and scanned to digital at home. Thanks for looking:-)

I had a walk out early one morning last week into the Peak District with my Dad to take some photographs. We had come to this location a week previous to be greeted with grey cloudy skies so we were pleased to have got a bit of light onto the scene.
We were both shooting film cameras. Mine being the Pentax 6x7 with a 75mm lens using Kodak Gold film....I hope you enjoy!
You can find this location just up the road from Hathersage easily accessible from surprise view carpark

I had a day out with my son last weekend walking around Nottingham doing a bit of street photography...the hard way with manual 35mm film camera....so being very selective with the pictures taken as unlike digital you only have 36 shots on a film.
Shot on a Canon P, 35mm Candida film, developed and scanned by myself.
Anyway, I found this composition quite amusing....

Here is a picture I took a few weeks ago whilst on the way to visit a friend near Matlock one evening. Quite often photographed, these striking beech trees leaning imposingly over the stone wall. They quite remind me of the dark hedges as seen in the Game of Thrones don't you think?
Anyway, my exploration into film photography continues. This was taken on a beautiful twin lens reflex(TLR) medium format film camera on Black and White film (Rollei xpan200), developed at home and scanned at home to digital. The Mamiya C330 pro is a square format camera so as you can see I cropped to a 6x7 image as I thought it suited it better. I hope you enjoy the picture...thanks for looking🙂

A picture I took last week on the great ridge. A very photographed gate. Wanted to try out a new film camera (a pentax 6 x 7) with Kodak Ektar 100. Shooting into the sun is never easy but I think this film and camera combination renders it beautifully. An easy location to get to but always very dramatic...thanks for looking :-)

Last week there was a night of clear skies. so took the opportunity to do some astrophotography from my back garden. My intention was to take this photo as a warmup to then photograph something a little more challenging. As always the clouds rolled in so this is all I got. I'm happy with it none the less.
This is the Orion nebula M42....apparently where stars are born! Spectacular!
if you look carefully to the bottom of the nebula you may see what is called the running man nebula. Can you see it?
A shadowy form of a man in full sprint with his head tilted back.
Anyway, enjoy! I hope you like.
Happy Friday!

Lucky enough to get a clear sky last week so decided to photograph the east veil nebula in constellation Cygnus. This is part of the remnants of a supernova. The star was 20 times bigger than our sun and exploded around 15000 years ago.
I think it looks a little like a smiling face ;-)
