one of my photos from Berwick Bank Wind Farm Protest reached front page of East Lothian's paper this week! I attended the protest to protest- not to take photos- so glad this worked out. Being honest mightn't of been the photo I chose (Sorry Shona, Ingrid and Brooklyn!) I cropped this one heavily before publishing, because I believed this tighter group told the story. I also include the original photo that was lightened and zoomed and let you decide if you might of chosen same lines. I cant say better things about the camera (Nikon Z7) and lens (F mount 50 mm 1.4) I use being able to keep this kind of quality given the "cropped" distance. ISO 64 1/1250 f2.2. Maybe this proves what a terrible photographer I really am ( I had just had my cataract done that week!) but really wanted to prove a front page picture doesn't require a huge amount of skill.

National Day for Migratory Birds provided a well organized protest at North Berwick to demonstrate against Berwick Bank Wind Farm. The planned site would be 3 times the size of Edinburgh (up the North East coast from North Berwick.)
In speeches, alternative energy was deemed supportable in general, but the location of this particular one, is the not acceptable bit . Concerns shared involved kittiwakes being first of a number of birds likely to disappear. The overall disruption to cetaceans is also a worry that was voiced at this protest.

Today is World Day for Animals in Laboratories. Was rewarding to gather with like minds at Charles River Tranent where beagles like Lilly (from Dogs Behaving badly!) are imported up from Huntingdon to never see light of day (unlike Lilly!) The beagles are experimented to death at a rate of 2 a day.

My photography has slowed down quite a bit because I realised my left eye was losing its own focus. I've since been diagnosed and am now in final weeks to receive a new lens in my eye. My work hasn't stopped and kind of adapted to what am given (-ie colours and realms of abstract shapes!) Meanwhile humans and animals keep me grounded. Scary times though so thanks for your support!
