Ryan Taking Photos

Ryan Taking Photos The Photographer for people who hate getting their photo taken. My best work is almost always a result of capturing moments that would otherwise pass us by.

I hope you've guessed it by now, but my name is Ryan and I to capture images of people that make them feel gooey inside, in exchange for money! Dabbling in photography since halfway through University in 2016 (I'm a nurse by trade), I have decided to see if I can make other people smile with my images. In other words, my family are bored to tears of me and my camera and I am seeking new subjects

Ironically, I despise getting my photo taken, and I expect there are many, many others out there like me. I prefer to not make you pose, feel awkward or, actually, feel like you are getting your photo taken at all. I am an introvert at heart, which I channel into my workflow by letting moments happen naturally, rather than imposing and making them feel artificial. But, if the moment calls for it, I can do something a little more flashy. Whether it be something as simple as a walk with family, formal occasions such as weddings, or something in between, I like to just let you do your own thing whilst I tag along and transform those moments into images that will simply make you grin. Feel free to contact me with any enquiries. No question is a stupid question and I would love to hear from you!

This couple were very much my vibe. Very chill despite all the pressures that come with a wedding day, and the weather played a blinder for them too at Forbes of Kingennie Country Resort. They both took my EXTREMELY MINIMAL guidance to create some beautiful images during their brief little couples shoot and the results speak for themselves. A brilliant way for me to round out a fantastic 2025.

Oh hi.....I'm back!

I've taken the first three months off from my little side hustle. The winter months tend to be quieter so I thought I'd catch up on the other aspects of my life that I neglect during wedding season. In addition to capturing weddings, I also work full time at my day job - yes, I am mad.

I've also got two kids who are at the age where they've developed some sense of what not to do in order to stay alive but aren't yet fully able to convince me that they won't do something inexplicably deranged and cause a house fire.

And I have been busy attempting to renovate my house which I stupidly bought with the best intentions but was blind to how many unnecessary holes the previous owner left and covered up with newspaper balls.

So yeah, normal service now resuming ......

6th of December 2025

I gush with pride every time I see these images.

Dom and Emily are a very chill couple who wanted all the important bits captured from their wedding but didn't want it to become a photoshoot. So they hired me! Every single guest on the day was effervescing with subtle joy watching these two tie the knot and this was one of those weddings where you don't really feel like a hired employee, you feel like a guest.

The two are from down south but Crail is a special place to them so they decided "Why not just get married here?". The local residents were full of compliments for the couple during their mini shoot at the town harbour, which is always a pleasure to witness.

These two deserve ALL the praise!

November 1st 2025

Not quite sure how to stop heaping praise on these two. But anyway......Ross and Zoe were so laid back that they were the walking definitions of tranquility on their wedding day, and this wedding didn't even feel like work.

They are both self professed introverts who actually did an engagement shoot to warm up to the camera last year. They both very clearly smashed it. These are just the sneaks I gave them as print outs on the day but they are too good to keep to myself.

Piped in to their favourite songs (including a surprise Star Wars rendition), Roasts for speeches, and a very calm and demure atmosphere, I love that their wedding was very much on their terms so they could be present for every moment. Very much the way to be.

27th of September 2025

Lisa and Kevin were unbelievably chill on their big day, and I stand by the notion that that's the way everyone should get to feel on their wedding day. Their venue was the picturesque Lunan Bay House, nestled by the sea.

Post meal entertainment was provided by Silver Service Singers and I think it's safe to say, I've never experienced wedding entertainers who had EVERYONE present in the palm of their hands. It was a pleasure to document the day for these two.

Ryan continues to be terrible at updating his social media!

Freya and James were just wonderful at being my temporary employers for the day. The couple were dead chill, the entire day was soundtracked by some lofi video game music, and let me capture their day as unobtrusively as possible. And check out the results. These two would be the first to say they were not mad on being in front of the camera but you would NEVER know. Gush Gush Gush etc.

Mel + Steven - 2nd of August 2025

I'm getting terrible at social media again but here we are...

Mel and Steven got married at one of my personal favourite venues, The Weaving Shed Studios, Old Glamis Factory, in a personalised ceremony led by Mel Glaswell. The couple didn't want anything particularly posey or formal, they wanted someone to capture her day with all the obligatory parts like formals thrown in for good measure.

We stopped by the nearby Caird Park for a mini couples shoot and then back to the party, with Coconut Groove kicking off the reception.

Danny + Jerricah

19th of June 2025

So does everyone remember that day a few weeks ago when the heavens opened and we all were drenched to the skin? That was the day that Danny and Jerricah got married. But you wouldn't have known the weather was so unforgiving because Danny and Jerricah are a couple who very much took it in their stride and made it a part of their big day. I know no one would choose rain on their wedding day but it really gave the images of the day an ethereal, soft and moody feeling that simply can't be recreated with editing.

They tied the knot, literally and figuratively, in Glen Clova Kirk, a picturesque venue nestled in the Glens of Angus. It was an intimate ceremony led by Joanne Caird, with poetry written by Jerricah's mum and numerous other little touches. Then we were off to The Quay to get the party started. Thank you both for letting me witness such a unique day.

Ellie + Stefan

28th of June 2025

Where do I start with this one? Ellie and Stefan were SENSATIONAL. They were equal parts daft, kinetic, BEYOND relaxed and various other qualities that I can't quite come up with the words to describe. Andrew D Scott Celebrant was far more eloquent with his description of the couple and their big day.

They were very much a couple on my wavelength, their venue was pitch perfect and I actually ended up feeling very much like a guest at this one, who just happened to be taking photos. I cannot compliment these two enough, just look at what they helped me make!

I finished and delivered Mae and David's full gallery yesterday and, this is quite sad but fellow photographers will get it, it just made me so happy going through their images. Its weird to feel joy from photos of two perfect strangers but the way I shoot is very fly on the wall (for the most part) but it very much makes me feel the feelings that I'm often too "in the moment" to feel on the day.

So I will continue to spam photos of this wedding for some time to come because it was just SUCH a hoot.

Sian + Taylor

5th Aptil 2025

This one was a little bit different, in that I played the role of photographer AND brother of the bride. Not a situation I have been in before (and hopefully not again!). So I'll be spamming the crap out of this one because it's just that little bit extra special.

My sister is a very "play it by ear", nothing fancy sort of gal so the added mania of this being a family wedding really ramped the chaos up a factor of ten, but at the same time, I wouldn't have changed it for the world.

Getting to relax with my family whilst making sure my sister and her new husband have some of my best work to date to cherish forever was the best gift u could both give and receive.
