As I've already posted , I was out all night on Thursday looking for Aurora , stars and a bit of Sunrise . Luckily I ended up with all 3 .
I was just about to go to sleep when I noticed an alert that there was a strong possibility of Aurora and with the night sky all sparkly it was just too good to miss . So I got up , got dressed and sneaked out ( Dona was working in the morning ) .
It was 20 past midnight and here I was in my car with not much of a plan . I think I drove the whole of Angus before I found my spot . Started off heading up Lumley Den , nope , then back to Meigle , nut, up to Alyth , no no , across to Lintrathen Loch nein , and finally to Balindarg .Yes !!!
Now you can't always see the Aurora , here in Scotland , with the naked eye , well certainly not the colours so I normally just stick my camera out the car window ( not when i'm driving obv. ) and take a photo . This tells me if there is any lurking about . And yup I was in luck .
Got out the car , took a few photos to set my composition then clickety click I was away . Once the Aurora had died off i retrieved my new toy form the boot and set it up to capture the Andromeda Galaxy , a swrily twirly galaxy 2.5 million light years away . My new toy is a kinda telescope with a camera built in , you tell it what to photograph , it searches the sky , finds it then you're ready to go . I think it took 150 photos , around 1 1/2 hours so I sat in the car watching youtube .
Once that was done it was time to get the start of sunrise before heading off to Crombie to finish the morning off. It wasn't as nice as I had hoped but it was very peaceful as I hope the photos portray .
Then it was time for home . Hoovering and cleaning before breakfast then off to bed to get no sleep before picking Donna up and eventually heading out to the local theatre for a night with Queen ( which was excellent by the way ) .
And then it was time to catch up on some much needed sleep .
