✨ A whole year round the sun ✨

It doesn't seem that long ago that she was curled up in her beautiful Mama's arms as a tiny newborn, sleeping peacefully through her very first photoshoot.

Now she's standing, exploring, showing off her gorgeous personality and filling the studio with smiles.

One of the loveliest parts of my job is watching little ones grow.

Capturing these important milestones feels so special!

These sessions become about so much more than photographs.

They become little markers in your baby's story.

The first year is filled with so many changes.

The tiny baby you brought home becomes a curious little person with opinions, expressions, favourite games and a laugh that makes everyone around them smile.

And while so much changes, some things stay beautifully the same.

The way they look to you for reassurance.

The way they light up when they hear a familiar song (there was lots of dancing in our session together!)

The love that surrounds them every single day.

Bouncing on beds & hide and seek!

Just a few things we got up to on this gorgeous extended family photoshoot in Edinburgh.

I photographed both boys as tiny little ones so it was just amazing to see them again, the eldest heading off to primary school this year, I can't believe it.

Mum got back in touch asking if I could capture some family memories with them to celebrate Grandad's 80th birthday.

What a beautiful idea!

There were lots of cuddles, tickles, flower picking and playing the grand piano that Mum played when she was a young girl in the very house she grew up in.

What a special photoshoot, one that will stay with me!

Amazing, we'll capture beautiful eye contact and their curiosity!

If you're worried about how your baby will 'behave' during your newborn photoshoot, please don't.

I have photographed hundreds of babies.

They are all so different.

Every day with a newborn is different.

Will they cry at some point? Definitely.

Well they sleep? Probably.

Does it matter. Absolutely not.

We will capture the most precious images that you will adore for years to come whatever kind of day your baby is having.

This gorgeous mum wrote on her enquiry form.

These kinds of comments still mean so much, even after all these years!

These images are from her maternity session and soon I’ll be travelling to her home in Edinburgh to photograph her newborn session alongside big brother who is 2. I can't wait ✨

Honestly, I’ve felt so lucky lately that many of my recent families have chosen to book both maternity and newborn sessions with me.

I just adore documenting the whole journey for families.

The waiting.

The anticipation.

The excitement.

This lovely Mama-to-be said during her session that she loved that I include all of the images from our sessions and offered lots of variety in my galleries.

She wanted to cherish every part of this experience.

When it comes to a chapter like this, I don’t think the story lives in only 5 photos.

The mums who book with me are usually looking for more from their experience with me.

They want to truly honour and celebrate this chapter.

Images that capture the atmosphere of this season properly, not just a few highlights pulled from it.

It’s the quieter frames that often become the most meaningful.

These moments only happen as a session unfolds...

The tiny details that seem small now but won’t feel small years from today.
