It was an absolute pleasure to attend Durham Jazz Festival's Gallery opening last night.
While Durham Jazz Festival will see more than 25 artists play at city venues in October, the Gallery at Prince Bishops Place will be open from today until October 25th.
At the Gallery, visitors can see award-winning Durham photographer and Durham Jazz Festival Director, John Lyons, acclaimed exhibition The Space Between the Notes.
Specialising in live music and portrait photography, John has captured performances at iconic venues and his style focuses on the emotion, intimacy and energy behind the music rather than simply documenting a performance.
The exhibition has also been updated to include several artists performing at this year’s Durham Jazz Festival.
Entry to the Gallery is free.

"Durham BID is proud to support and sponsor Durham Jazz Festival, which will bring an exciting line-up of regional and national talent to the city at the event in October. The Gallery is a fantastic space which also showcases John's work," said BID Manager, Paul Howard.
