One of the most common human perceptions is that time speeds up as we get older. One minute we're in school, the days dragging on for ever as we wait for the bell to ring. The next minute our Little People are in school and that 9-3 gap in our Mama-Day when we can actually get things done just flies!
The days seem to get shorter, as do the years.
According to science there is a possible reason for this. As we age the speed at which our brains can receive and process images slows. When we are young, each second of actual time is packed with many more mental images. Like a slow-motion camera that captures thousands of images per second, time appears to pass more slowly. Professor Adrian Bejan, in the Harvard University blog, is quoted as saying "Days seemed to last longer in your youth because the young mind receives more images during one day than the same mind in old age."
All those images!! And we capture so few!!
So here's to the Mama's who book Birthday Portraits. The Mama's who are Catchers of Time!!
