In our happy place round the kitchen table at Potts Cottage running a lino workshop for 6 people new to this art & craft. Never ceases to amaze us how each creation is unique and beautiful, and how it is possible to produce so much in just 2 hours.

Keep an eye out for more Potts Cottage Collective beginners courses through the year, as well as Step 2 Lino printing workshop for people who have completed a beginners workshop.

Finally starting to translate sketches from our Round Europe on a Train grand tour, where we took in so much inspiration from the incredible art all around us in Amsterdam, Berlin, Prague, Vienna, Zurich, Ventimiglia & Paris. So much more to delve into.

But for now are some new paintings in a series I am calling ‘Motherhood Observed’ from sketches in the beach in northern Italy.

They will be on sale at Chew Valley Arts Trail on October 14th & 15th at Venue 18 ( East Harptree Pavillion, The Playing Field BS40 6BQ 19am-6pm along side lino prints, photography and quilts from us, and fellow artists Kevin Hemmings, Cheryl Herrington and Mary Liddell. Come and say hello.

So moved by Friday's workshop with refugees. Crochet and embroidery have been taught the world over in different ways, so many of these people were connecting to their childhoods as they took up their hooks and needles, and were delighted to re-learn these old crafts, and feel connections to their loved ones and home.
We have a few weeks break from these Friday workshops now and are excited to see what they will have done with the materials they left them by the time they return.

Jackie has been a bit preoccupied this month with a piece she has been preparing for exhibition. Called ‘Stained’ it was based on the stimulus poem ‘’Cigarettes’by Matt L.T. Smith from a collection written by staff students and alumni of King Alfred’s college, called ’The Lost Art of Staring into Fiires’. It will form part of an exhibition of art work, each displayed alongside the poem which inspired it and each created by alumni of Wi******er University ( or King Alfred’s college as it was back in the day). First piece produced in the new home studio 😊 you can catch the exhibition ( and buy the painting !) in the West Downs Gallery Wi******er between 22nd May- 27th June
