A great turnout from Seven Sisters last night, with lots of members braving the wilds of Hailsham in the cold. We were narrowly beaten by 5 points. Giles and David did particularly well, scoring 20s. A great effort onwards and upwards. Thank you, Hailsham PS, for hosting a lovely evening.

The Club was invited by the Gurkha Welfare Trust to take some photos of Trailwalker. A 100km run across the South Downs. Proceeds raised will go towards retired Gurkhas in Nepal. What a privilege it was to be there, the weather was kind, and the photo ops endless. I was treated to Nepalese curry and tea and was very well looked after. The winning team arrived in nine hours forty five minutes!

What a cracking start to this season's competitions. 73 images from 37 members, an outstanding effort. Well done to those who did well. The excellent judge, Ian Howard, was kept very busy indeed. Just a few of the many great images we enjoyed last night.

South Downs National Park photo competition.

The theme this year is “Three cheers for 15 years: South Downs favourites”.
As the National Park is celebrating its 15th birthday this year, we want you to photograph some of your favourite things about the South Downs – whether that be locations, views, towns and villages, heritage, food and drink, or whatever your imagination can think of!

There is a top prize of £250, and prizes for second, third and fourth place.

The deadline for entries is 31st October, so there's still plenty of time to enter images.

As always, there will be a separate wildlife category, with £150 prize for the best shot and £75 for the runner up. The youth competition returns this year with its own exciting prizes.

For all details, to submit images, and for the terms and conditions, see:

Everyone has their favourite spot (or spots!) in the South Downs! It might be admiring the dramatic chalk cliffs at Seven Sisters, wandering through the misty autumn woods at Ebernoe, or the immense view of coast and country from Butser Hill. The South Downs National Park is full of iconic gems that...

A great exhibition is over for the year and thank you for all the positive comments. Footfall was considerably higher and the hall was buzzing. We’re at The Gather in The Beacon on 23 & 24 August where you can continue to see our stunning work and buy any prints if you wish. We’re also starting our Mondays back at Meads Hall on 1 September and you’re welcome to come along, no obligation, as a guest. Hope to see you soon.
