My late Mum fought hard to get the War Commission to replace the head stones at our relatives grave near Montay, France. Sadly she never made it back out to see the new stones. So this is sort of a mini pilgrimage on her behalf. Harry Oliver died on the 23rd October 1918.

First time doing anything at this scale and first time working on a canvas. It was interesting discovering the emotions and thought processes as the painting developed. Also jumped in the deep end with mixing media. Mostly acrylic paints, but also some oil paints and magazine pages.

Sketchbooking. A few months ago I decided to explore different art forms outside of photography. I have never been any good at drawing (putting it mildly), but I have been practicing and using a sketchbook to quickly put ideas down on paper has been a revelation (duh!). This was my first sketch working on perspectives which has been a massive stumbling block in the past.
