The European Robin, Erithacus rubecula, is a tiny ember of warmth in the garden - its soft orange-red breast glowing gently against the green. Curious and companionable, it lingers close, often following gardeners as the soil is turned, hopeful for a worm and unbothered by human presence. It feels like a familiar little heartbeat - a bright, trusting spark of nature close to home. 🍂✨

Female Common Crossbill, Loxia curvirostra.
Nature’s locksmith. 🔑
That beautifully twisted bill isn’t a flaw-it’s a masterpiece, perfectly designed to pry secrets from conifer cones. A specialist in a world of conifers. 🌲

Female silver-studded blue (Plebejus argus).
Proof that fragility and resilience can share the same wings. This heathland butterfly is in decline, its world broken into smaller and more isolated pieces, but moments like this offer hope.. 🌿

2020, wow what a year 😅.. One I’m sure all of us will remember. Importantly it’s made us all reflect on the most important things in our life and how the smallest of things that we do day to day are so precious and truly taken for granted. Wishing everyone a lovely seeing out of 2020, and onto the next one!! (DON’T SAY ANYTHING I DON’T WANT TO JINX IT 🤫😂) So here’s a selection of the photos I managed to get on my limited expeditions out this year! Special highlight being my first Kingfisher shot, and also the Dartford Warbler! 😍 @ Hampshire

Continuing on with the festive wildlife scene, a Eurasian nuthatch high up in the snow littered canopy of an oak tree 🌳 ❄️. Love these little guys, they make such a distinctive high pitched chirp, bopping around everywhere 😍

By now I’ve usually posted a festive scene of some sort. I’ve been rather busy spending some time with the family and enjoying the festivities after this “different” year 😂. Hope everyone’s had a lovely time!! 🎅🏻 So here’s your cliché festive scene, a Robin red breast perched eloquently on a post, in the snow dappled English countryside.
