The National Museum of Scotland

The origins of the Museum’s rich and varied collection lie with the Society of Antiquaries of Scotland, which was founded in 1780. In 1985, the National Museum of Antiquities would merge with the Royal Scottish Museum and is now National Museums Scotland, the largest multi-disciplinary museum in Scotland, with 12 million items in its collections. Pictured above the new galleries opened on 29 July 2011, this is when the Museum united the two strands of its history for the first time in a single entity, the National Museum of Scotland.

10 almost hand held images stacked to make this photo as it’s a very busy place to be.

The Hub, Edinburgh.

Formally known as the Highland Tolbooth Kirk with a spire standing at 72m tall and the highest point in Edinburgh, it’s silhouette can be seen from all across the Old Town.

The building was built between 1842 and 1845 and was a Neo-Gothic style design using a dark coloured sandstone to give the appearance that it is older than it actually is. It was a collaboration between Scottish architect James Gillespie Graham and the English architect Augustus Pugin.

The interior has now been remodelled reopened in 1999 under the new name ‘The Hub’ and it is now used as a multifunctional space where many different events are held.

Set on the edge of the Mendip Hills is a town called Frome. It is built on high uneven ground and centres on the River. Frome actually means brisk-flowing water and the early town grew around springs which provide a continuous supply of fresh, clean water. One of the places this can be seen is Cheap Street, this street is one of the best medieval streets in Europe and right through the middle runs a leat.
