✨ EXCITING NEWS ✨
I’ll be along capturing the first annual Mini Marches!! Can’t wait to see you all there!!

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🐴We are SO excited to announce that we'll be holding the first Edinburgh ‘Mini’ Riding of the Marches on Tuesday 8th September 2026!

The Mini Marches will be held at The Drum Estate, with kind permission of the More-Nisbet family.

This is a chance for younger riders to ride their own Mini Marches through the beautiful Drum Estate, led by the Edinburgh Captain and Lass on horseback!

The route will take in the historic Old Mercat Cross and the ancient Borestone that once marked the boundary of Edinburgh’s marches. The ride will move as one, with everyone setting off and finishing at the same time.

There will be a prize for Best Turned Out, a stop halfway for a small ceremony and we will have a photographer present.

The ride will start at 6pm, taking roughly 90 minutes, with riders mounted for 5.30pm. The ride will be at a walking pace only – no trotting or cantering permitted.

Parking for equine transport only will be at The Drum Estate Caravan Park, accessed via the East Gate, 642 Old Dalkeith Road EH16 4SL. Trailers and lorries will be able to arrive from 4.30pm.

We warmly welcome families and spectators wishing to follow the ride on foot – parking will be at the Sheriffhall Park & Ride and entry to the estate will only be permitted on foot. Pedestrians will be directed by our Marshalling team on the day.

Dresscode: Smart riding attire (legal standard riding hat and boots with a small heel required – no trainers permitted)

PLEASE NOTE:
– This event is FREE to enter and every rider must be registered via our website using the form found in the links in our bio.

– ALL riders must be accompanied by a responsible adult on foot. Lead reins are permitted. Only 1 adult permitted per pony/horse

– There will be no catering available

– There will be no toilet facilities

– Stallions are not permitted at this event

– No dogs are permitted at this event and cannot be left in vehicles

Our Glencorse Community Garden Open Day is officially in the works! We’re still in the early planning stages, but the excitement is already blooming. Pop the date in your diary — this is shaping up to be a day you won’t want to miss.

We’re bringing together an amazing mix of people, talents and activities to make this year’s event truly unforgettable. Here’s a little sneak peek at what’s already confirmed:

• Antler & Moon Photographer — setting up in our polytunnel to capture quirky, unique family photos you’ll treasure.
• Nell Abram — our stunning fire dancer returning to support the garden with a performance you’ll be talking about for weeks. She’s also bringing props for the kids to explore between her routines.
• Real‑life Unicorn Visit 🦄 — our magical pony friend is back for pets, cuddles, and possibly even rides.
• Plant Sale — grown with love by local residents and volunteers. Midlothian Wildflowers will also be joining us, and the lovely Julia will have a beautiful variety of plants available.
• Tractors & Quads — local supporters are bringing their machinery for kids (and adults!) to admire and snap photos with.
• Scotland’s Icy — our ice‑cream man will be on site to keep everyone cool and smiling.
• Face Painting — our lovely face painter will be set up in the tea hut, ready to transform little faces into butterflies, tigers and everything in between.
• Men’s Shed Tool Sale — our brilliant Men’s Shed team will be selling tools and handmade items.
• Market Stalls — from donated garden supplies to delicious cakes, we’re hoping to offer something for everyone.

… and we’re still reaching out to more wonderful people who may want to get involved.
