I spent the weekend teaching at Wildlife Photography Hides and the Pond hide as usual delivered. I had 6 very happy students who all went away with some very cool shots and as they were all sorted I got to take a few myself. Just missed the mating shot they were far too quick and I was all set up on a different perch for diving!

Last week I posted a couple of images from my last day Kicheche Camps this one is from day one. 20 mins after arriving in the Mara we had a sighting of Sankuet and her male cub. This is the cub hopping over the river.

Two images from my last game drive in Kicheche Camps last week. Same lion exactly the same camera settings 3 minutes difference in the timing of the two shots. This shows dramatically how quickly the light changes in the Mara. I think both have merit what do you guys think? let me know in the comments or send your favourite a heart.

Hi all, I have a new set of monthly mentoring sessions kicking off in February. Each zoom session involves some sort of presentation from me (there is a library of options!) followed by group image review of participants images. I have run 2 sets of these so far and both groups have opted to do a second year! If you have lost you mojo, need a little gentle encouragement to get out with your camera or simply want to learn some new bits and bobs then this would be perfect for you. Link below

Wishing all my followers the very best for 2026 I hope this year is good for all of you. First image from Antartica late last year when we were lucky enough to find a few penguins on an absolutely gorgeous iceberg. Many doughnuts around the iceberg in our zodiac were performed!

Very busy weekend for me teaching workshops so just one post this weekend and it's back to the Masai Mara and a failed buffalo hunt. Although I ma not sure it was ever a real attempt or some young ones having a go. Regardless all participants walked away unscathed.

Yesterday I walked a small part of a marathon route with my friend Paul Goldstein who is walking 25 marathons in his tiger suit raising money for tigers. Nancy Conway and Charlotte Bass and I split the day up between us. Please if you have a few pennies to spare use the link below to send a donation.

And please share this post of one of Paul’s posts so that other people can do the same. Every little helps!
Thanks to Angela McLean for the 📷

As promised (if a little later in the day than normal) Mamma bear and her cub(s). Was amazing just to watch these three quietly going about their search for clams.

A week later and here is another image from Alaska for you. We were very lucky to spend time with a Mamma Grizzly and her two cubs. This is one of those cubs having fun in the water whilst Mum was searching for clams to eat. I will try to remember to post the image of Mum and cubs tomorrow.

Good morning all! Sorry for the long time no images. I will endeavour to get through some of my editing backlog and do better at posting. My most recent outing was to Alaska where I spent 10 nights on a yacht with an amazing group of people and we got to see this. What is this? It's Humpback Whales bubble-net feeding and it's truly an amazing spectacle to see. Photographing it is like playing whack a mole as there is often no indication on where they are going to do it and they come up and disappear very quickly. On this occasion they did it in the dark water close to the shore so underexposed by 3 stops gets you the image.
