The Kingโ€™s Knot sits within Stirlingโ€™s ancient Royal Park, first recorded in 1190 and often described as Scotlandโ€™s oldest park.

The Kingโ€™s Knot itself is much later, largely dating from 1627โ€“29, when the royal gardens were remodelled for Charles I.

The Airlie Monument was built on Tulloch Hill near Kirriemuir in 1901.
It commemorates David Ogilvy, 9th Earl of Airlie, who was killed at the Battle of Diamond Hill in South Africa in 1900. The red sandstone tower was designed in the style of an old Scottish peel tower.
