i've Been Watching With interest the Demolition of the Callender Shopping Center, with a special interest in the original Erskine Church and graveyard that belonged to the Silver Row Area, further info from Google --The original Erskine Church at Silver Row in Falkirk was demolished in the late 1950s after being sold in 1905, when the congregation moved to a new building, and after having been used as the Roxy variety theatre. The graveyard associated with the church, located in Horsemarket Lane and Silver Row, was completely removed as part of the Silver Row redevelopment in the late 1950s, with remains transferred to Camelon Cemetery.
Key Dates
1905: The Erskine congregation moved from the Silver Row building to a new church on the corner of Cockburn Street and Hodge Street.
Post-1905: The old Silver Row building was sold and later housed the Electric Theatre and then the Roxy variety theatre.
Late 1950s: The Silver Row area, including the former church building, was redeveloped for the Callendar shopping centre.
Late 1950s: As part of the redevelopment, the associated burial ground was completely removed, and interments were moved to Camelon Cemetery
