“You don’t need a professional and their camera for food images- these days owners and their phone cameras can do it all.”

Now to some extent, I’d have to agree. The quality of images from modern phones is excellent.
However, I’d argue that having good equipment doesn’t automatically translate into great storytelling images. You still need to know how to control lighting, composure and staging.

I’d also argue that professional cameras add that little extra edge too…. Especially when needed for large scale viewing or print.

Below is the same dish - one with camera, the other with phone. Any preferences?

Always good to have a bit of business chat!
I find talking to others a great way to both unwind and get information/ideas.

Tonight’s evening meeting was smaller than usual, as there is a great fundraising event at The Alverton Hotel in aid of Cornwall Air Ambulance happening at the same time and many of the members are there supporting. Indeed, some here were going there afterwards.

I even threw a few darts…. Some did in fact hit the dartboard too!

A get together to eat, drink, chat all things personal and business today at the Cornwall Hotel and Spa, St Austell. (Sorry guys, this one is women only!)

I do a lot of networking; ladies only and mixed. Each is hugely valuable- I’d never not do both. I enjoy male company. But… there is a totally different vibe to those meetings having women only.

What’s that? I think it’s the help and support that is offered for the personal issues, alongside business ones. I can’t imagine discussing menopause with guys in the room for instance! Or dealing with schools and children, aging, size, treatments or spa therapies…. Yet it’s through these discussions that you build a more holistic view of the businesses that each runs - and very importantly, through this, who you’d like to work with and/or for.

If you’ve never been to one … give it a go!
