Neurodiversity has shaped my entire life.

I’m autistic and also have ADHD, dyslexia and dyspraxia.

For many years I didn’t understand why some things seemed so much harder for me than for other people. Receiving my autism diagnosis at 28 helped me begin making sense of experiences I’d carried for decades.

Today I share my lived experience through talks and speaking engagements, helping people better understand what it can be like to navigate the world as a neurodivergent person.

My talks are honest, personal and rooted in real life. I speak about both the strengths and challenges of neurodivergence, from creativity and deep focus to sensory overload, masking and burnout. Most importantly, I hope to encourage greater understanding, compassion and inclusion.

Because neurodiversity isn’t something that needs fixing. It is simply a different way of experiencing the world.

Because understanding starts with listening, and kindness starts with understanding. 💛

There is something about the sea that reminds me not everything has to happen at once.

Lately life has felt full. Exciting, but full.

There have been new opportunities, a house move on the horizon, time with family, creative projects, and all the usual ups and downs that come with being human. Sometimes I find myself wanting to have everything figured out straight away. To know the next step, and the one after that.

Nature rarely works that way.

The tide comes and goes. Seasons change. Things grow at their own pace. This quiet rock pool caught my eye because, despite the waves beyond, it felt completely still. A small reminder that even in busy seasons, there is value in finding moments of calm.

What has helped you slow down recently? 💙

Hello, I’m Polly.

I’m a photographer and filmmaker based in Cornwall, passionate about telling stories that inspire connection… with nature, wildlife, places and people. Over the years I’ve had the privilege of working with conservation organisations, documenting marine life, creating films, photographing landscapes, and sharing stories that matter.

I’m also autistic, and that shapes the way I see the world. Curiosity, attention to detail and a deep connection with nature all play a part in my creative work.

If you’ve recently joined me, welcome. If you’ve been here for a while, thank you for following along. 🩵

I’d love to know what brought you here, photography, filmmaking, wildlife, neurodiversity, sea swimming, or something else entirely?

Currently in the Highlands and Islands with family, soaking up everything I’ve been needing lately… sea air, shifting skies, quiet moments, and landscapes that somehow make the world feel both bigger and calmer all at once. There’s something about this part of the world that always helps me slow down properly. The changing light across the mountains, rain moving through the glens, sea lochs stretching into the distance… it never really leaves you.
I’ll definitely be embracing a few cold sea swims while I’m here, alongside long conversations, fresh air, and quality time together.

Sharing a photograph from a previous trip that still captures that feeling perfectly for me.

The other weekend Dad and I went to Worbarrow Bay, and standing there reminded me how much nature exists without urgency.

The sea still moves.
The light still changes.
Things still grow quietly and slowly.

I think sometimes we forget that not everything meaningful has to happen loudly or all at once. There’s strength in slowing down. In taking things gently. In allowing yourself space to breathe and simply exist for a while. As someone who experiences the world very intensely, I often find that nature brings me back to myself again. Away from noise, pressure, and overwhelm. Back to something steadier. Some of the most healing moments in life are often the simplest ones… sea air, quiet conversations, the sound of waves, and space to think clearly again. 🌊

(Side note for anyone planning to visit Worbarrow Bay… parts of the Lulworth area are used as active military ranges, so it’s always important to check whether the ranges are open before visiting.)
