The weather was again much better than had been forecast for our morning at Manningtree & Cattawade. Our main target was the long-staying Hudsonian godwit (a rare visitor from America, now almost completely moulted to winter plumage); and we spent half an hour or so enjoying great views of it feeding on north marsh (Cattawade). Other highlights included 600+ black tailed godwit, 10 greenshank, kingfisher, common buzzard, lapwing, little egret, shelduck, teal ... and we found some firebugs too.
