I didn’t realise quite how much of me I’d lost along the way.

For years I’d been someone’s mum, someone’s wife, the person keeping a busy household going.

Then suddenly I had more freedom.

And I had to work out who I was again.

I’d travelled independently when I was younger. I’d lived overseas. I wasn’t afraid of travel.

But travelling alone again in my 50s felt surprisingly different.

I had to make every decision.

Trust my own judgement.

Sit with my own company.

And rebuild a confidence I hadn’t even realised I’d stopped using.

That’s one of the things we talked about when I joined Action Packed Travel for a conversation about travelling alone. 🎙️

And I think it’s something a lot of women in midlife will recognise.

Solo travel isn’t just about seeing somewhere new.

Sometimes it’s about finding your way back to yourself.
