Every year, millions of tons of electrical and electronic items are discarded. is good, but is even better, and it is often easy to fix things. You can save money, materials and energy, and take action against climate change.
At Compass Video we had gathered a little hoard of electric waste, so we thought we would find somewhere to donate it to. We arranged for the Fixy van to pay a visit to our base at Edventure: Frome and altered others to its arrival. Overall the Fixy van had a successful day, repairing laptops, collecting donated goods and storing items to be recycled.
The Fixy initiative is led by Resource Futures consultancy, in partnership with Somerset Waste Partnership and Donate-IT, a local community interest company that refurbishes laptops, tablets and phones, and distributes them to families who need them. The van has a collection point for these items and Donate-IT will securely data-wipe donations.
