The best advice I was ever given.
•
It was given to me by my dad accidentally on a family surfing holiday,
and has impacted my business, creative process and how i live my life.
•
I must have been about 16 at the time when he dropped this accidental knowledge bomb on me. It absolutely blew my mind and reshaped my way of thinking, I still constantly reference it today.
•
I had just finished my GCSEs and for some reason, possibly school or my personality. I believed there was a perfect formula to achieve success. Things had to be done a certain way, any deviation from that meant failure!
•
Dad and I were at the edge of the sea, watching surfers carve across glassy ocean waves. Apart from one guy, who was surfing on his knees! He had deviated from the standard method. And therefore he was not a surfer he was a psychopath! He wasn't doing it right!
•
I started to share this with my Dad and he said: "look at how much fun he is having. He catching more waves than anyone else" Followed by the kicker......
•
"Doesn't matter how you ride the wave"
•
My mind was blown. It doesn't matter how you ride the wave.
Doesn't matter how we reach our destination as long as we get there.
If the client is happy with our work its doesn't matter what process was or what tools we used were.

There is no perfect way of doing things we all walk different paths have different, dreams, hopes and desires. It doesn't matter how you ride the wave, just make sure you ride it!
