Class being involved with this one. Really clear brief, great ideas and enthusiasm from Jilly all throughout the process and got to shoot at some of my favourite spots in town on a roasting hot summer day.

Incredible bit of kit recently installed at The River Inn. Fully retractable glass conservatory to allow weddings and events in all weather 🎤💒

Huge inside and such a class option for venues in Scotland when you have to roll the dice for sunshine no matter the season ☀️🌧️

Got lucky this week and managed to capture the new space in the sunshine using a mix of dolly work, drone and FPV drone work along with some photos 🚁🎥

Shooting some testimonials across Glasgow last week for the mighty Abode Architects

A lot of things can be faked today: online reviews, images of finished work, accolades, reputation and apparent success.

A testimonial from a genuinely satisfied client might be the last remaining bit of proof that you are as good as you say you are and that you can be trusted with other people’s hard earned money.

It’s also a great chance for me to light and shoot my favourite subject, people!

Efficiency.

After weeks, and sometimes months, of calls/planning/finalising details of the work to be done, it can sometimes feel like the job goes by in a flash.

A lot of videographers opt for a fast set up with the intention of making things ‘easier’ for the client: in and out, minimal fuss, stick a light here and crack on, don’t take up too much of their time.

I always feel like it’s worth taking that extra bit of time on the day to light properly, take the pace down a notch and try and get the most out of the time filming together. Why spend time deliberating over every other detail then rush the most important part?

There can be a lot of pressure when a client is waiting and you’re fiddling with lights, c-stands and diffusion, trying to get the right mood, levels and atmosphere for the shot.

However, I’ve never had anyone complain about this once they see the final footage and I’ve communicated on the day what im trying to achieve and blocked out enough set up time beforehand.

Building up a library of posts and materials for potential clients to find out more about you and your business makes so much more sense to me than hunting for that viral hit

The first approach allows you to address the audience in your own voice, consistent with who you are and what your business is about 🧠

The second approach forces you to chase trends and behave out of character in an attempt to reach as many eyeballs as possible, even if those eyes belong to people who will never buy from you and won’t be interested in your business once you stop performing trends 🤡
