Scotland, my home for 19 years /
Szkocja, mรณj dom od 19 lat
Four years ago, I was reflecting on having been here for so long, and to be honest, not much has changed over the past four years, apart from becoming a mother to my second child. Overall, I just want to remind myself what a beautiful and wonderful place Scotland is.
I can hardly believe how quickly time has passed. I came here to learn new things, master a language, meet new people, and make a living. Many people wanted to join this adventure, but eventually, from a large group of those willing to take this path into the unknown, it was just three of us: me, my colleague from university, and his friend.
Some might say I was naive, while others might think I was brave. I'd say both perspectives are valid. I am simply a person who believes and trusts that life brings us many great things as long as we are not afraid to reach for them and work for them. Sure, not all these 19 years have been easy and pleasant, but whether it was worth the daily hardships... my answer is definitely yes.
Today, the colleague with whom I came to Scotland has been my husband for almost 14 years and is the father of our beloved daughters. I have met a huge number of wonderful, interesting people with big hearts and have made long-lasting friendships.
I live in a beautiful, albeit rainy, corner of the earth, and Iโm glad that so many fantastic people surround me. Iโve learned a lot and, thanks to the support of others, have become a better version of myself.
I sometimes miss my family, home, relatives, friends, and Poland, which is also very close to my heart. However, today, I want to say that I am very grateful for everyone who crossed my path in Scotland and assured me that this is a great place to live and be part of this community.
For every beautiful view and wonderful place I have seen here, and for the opportunities for growth, I hope to make the most of them and give back at least some of the good that has come to me here. All the bad experiences, I treat as necessary lessons for personal growth.
I am so grateful for a chance I got and took.
