My little studio space in Truro is ideal for babies up to age 1 - this is where my newborn, sitter and cake smash sessions take place. I adore getting out into nature for family sessions, incorporating landscape, natural elements and tones in the photos.

Intro post 📣 Hey! I'm Michelle - photographer, baby whisperer, memory facilitator and moment collector in Cornwall 🙂 I'm here to help you document the big milestones and tiny details that your heart wants to keep hold of, in a way that feels real and caring. I love to find the soft lingering thread that runs through it all - from pregnancy, to newborn babies, wild and brave littles and family adventures.

Sessions with me are about finding what's truest in the moments we have together and going with that. Trusting the perfection in whatever unfolds, because the best shots happen when everyone relaxes 🙌

After 12 years photographing mums with their babies, I also love photographing the later years for women, after the intensity of the younger years fades and things start to shift.

My current obsession is shooting families with tweens and teens, and exploring the power of photography for women over 40 (who are just awesome!) 😍

I have a space I shoot from in my home in Grampound, and offer outdoor sessions on location around Cornwall, and at home photoshoots. If there's a story to be told, or a soul that needs understanding, I'm here for you.

May was an amazing month ❤️. There have been some truly special moments shared and captured, plus the glorious sunshine and a beautiful birthday bo***ir shoot (ladies, do yourself a favour and book one of these sessions!!)

And now it's June - we're fast approaching the golden heart of the year. I have some very exciting things lined up this month! I will be leaving cosy Cornwall for London to meet in person for her Within workshop (can't wait to tick that off my bucket list!). And I will have a spare day in the big smoke to apply for my South African passport renewal - it expired in 2016 🙈

Looking forward to family holiday photoshoots, maternity and newborn sessions and hopefully more women's portraits too 🤞 and of course, celebrating the Solstice ☀️

Transitioning from one child to two can be hard, but it also feels so wonderful to add to the family, like a piece you never knew was missing ❤️

If your eldest suddenly seems massive, that's completely normal! It takes some getting used to 😁

It's not about appearances or fitting the mould. There's nothing fancy to see here! I'm not interested in trends or what everyone else is doing. What's important is doing an honest job with love, as best I can, and giving my clients an experience that will warm their hearts whenever they look at their photos.

No session is the same, each one is truly unique and memorable. After 12 years I'm still loving it, still learning and getting deeper into what is most important.

A grateful pause, to say thanks to all the families that have supported me this far and continue to do so 🥰

The outfit planning process can be fun but also stressful for mums (who tend to be the ones sorting it all out). I have many long message threads - conversations with photos of various outfit options and my feedback, suggestions as we narrow it down to what's going to work best.

I care about these details just as much as you do and I'm always looking for what's simplest, looks comfy, and will look best in the environment.

Simplicity can sometimes be quite hard to arrive at, as it doesn't necessarily mean plain, and definitely doesn't mean matching.

Taking the time and effort to plan this aspect in advance, with time to try things on and exchange if needed etc is key to arriving feeling happy, calm and confident to your session and I am always here to help.

Ps - this isn't because I want to dictate what people wear to sessions with me, it's because many people know they want to look great and cohesive, and don't know where to start or end. I'm there as your support, not your boss ☺️

Detail shots: they are the little things that may not make it onto your wall in a frame, but capture the essence of your baby in a more subtle way. These are always stunning in albums - they break up the faces shots and weave a deeper sense of your baby's story so far into your gallery.

I love that no matter what's going on in your session - baby's crying, or in between positions - there's always something to photograph. No minute of a session is ever a waste, so parents should never worry about their little one not settling. It's life with a newborn that we're here to capture, however that looks.

It's that time of year when I start getting a lot of enquiries for extended family sessions. I love doing them! However hard it may seem to coordinate multiple groups to be ready at a time of day that might not be ideal for everyone, it's so worth all the planning calls and emails back and forth and ringing around everybody to sort the details.

And it's funny but the comment I get most at the end of these crazy but fun sessions is 'you were just what we needed'. I'm kind but firm, patient but directing. You have fun while I worry about the details. That's exactly how it should be and believe me when I say, after spending time around big happy families - you were just what I needed too ❤️
