One less thing you need to worry about for your cake smash 🎂

I have a selection of little outfits here at the studio which have been chosen to work with each of my different cake smash set ups, so you don’t necessarily need to go out and buy something especially for the session.

We choose the outfit on the day as availability can vary depending on what’s currently being laundered, mended or recovering from the previous little cake destroyer 😂 But there will always be a couple of cute options that work beautifully with the set up you’ve chosen.

Then all you need to bring is your baby.

Preferably hungry and ready to attack a cake.

That’s part of what I’m here for. We can talk through what you like, what you definitely DON’T like, and build a session around that rather than expecting you to arrive with a Pinterest board and a master plan.

Although if you do have a Pinterest board, I’m quite happy to see that too 😂

There is something slightly ridiculous about a newborn being almost the same size as their cuddly toy 😂

These little setups are always kept soft and simple, and we work entirely around what baby is comfortable with on the day.

Some babies sleep through almost everything. Others have very strong opinions. Both are absolutely fine.

I know I use lots of different colours and setups, but I’ll always have a soft spot for these warmer, earthy tones.

They keep everything calm and simple and let baby do all the work. No huge props needed when you’ve got that little face in the middle of the photograph.

If neutrals are your thing, tell me when we plan your session.

Please don’t skip the family photos because you’re tired, don’t feel camera ready or think you’ll do them another time.

You don’t need to look perfect. Your baby isn’t going to look back at these and care whether you’d had enough sleep or whether your hair behaved that day.

They’re just going to see all of you together, right at the beginning.

I love doing a few proper portraits around first birthdays as well as the cake smash itself. At this age they’ve got so much personality already, and you really start to see the little person they’re becoming.

The splash bath gets rid of some of the cake, gives them another chance to have a good play and usually creates some brilliant photos too.

I’m not promising they’ll actually be clean afterwards though.

I can tell you as many times as I like, that the first two weeks whizzes by in a blur, but until you experience it, you won't believe me quite how quickly it goes!

Newborn sessions are best done in those first few weeks, because your little one will change SO much in such a short space of time, it'll leave you questioning,

"Where they really ever that small?'
