If you’ve ever looked at an image and thought, *“This could be competition-worthy… or I might just be kidding myself,”* then I’ve just written something you’ll want to read.
I’ve pulled together a new blog post all about what really happens when your prints land in front of a judging panel — the mindset you need, the technical traps that catch people out, and the tiny details that can quietly torpedo an otherwise lovely photograph.
We’re talking blown highlights, grubby greys, over-sharpening, dodgy mounts, heavy vignettes, trends that sink your chances, mentors, titles, paper choice — the whole lot.
If you’re entering competitions, thinking about qualifications, or simply want to finish your images to a higher standard, this one’s for you.
It’s been written in that late-November, coffee-going-cold, “just before heading to the pub” mood… so it’s frank, practical, and hopefully a good nudge of encouragement too.
