So I had a tot up of comments, likes etc and opinions of friends and family and although it was close Whitby just pipped Roseberry Topping to the post so this will be the front cover of next year's calendar. The question is who wants to see which photos I have picked for inside it?

Apologies for the relative silence as of late I've been snowed under working on renovating our garden and simply not had the time or energy for posting on social media. I'll try my best to keep posting but for now I'm squirreling away trying to get my 2027 calendar finalised so it can go off to be printed so please can you comment below which cover you prefer please. Don't worry both photos are going to be in its just a question of which to put on the front and I need your help....

Away We Go

November last year as the Flying Scotsman was heading off on its way to Pickering I caught it as it was leaving the beautiful station that is Grosmont. Unfortunately as it set off it wasnt really visible due to the release of steam so this was one of my last photos before it was gone and on its way along the line.

Looking Back

Having spent some time looking through some old albums and tidying up I came across this one from back in December 22. I do love a trip down to Saltburn especially early morning when its quiet although this wasnt early as it was a December sunrise. I havent been to Saltburn for a little while as I find it odd without the carriages on the cliff lift but theyre due back in time for summer and I'll make sure to get down soon.

Summer at Solly

Well its the 1st of the month so we're now officially in June and here's your reminder to turn your calendars over. If you bought one of mine this year this summers night down on the beach at Saltburn at low tide is what you'll see when you turn over to June!

I'm currently in the process of piecing together the photos for my 2027 version which is scary to think how quick this year is going by!

Happy World Dracula Day. When I saw that was today I couldn't not post a photo of Whitby could I? The inspiration for Bram Stoker's Dracula but also an inspiration for me as whenever I'm not quite at it or had a break from photography back to Whitby I go and thats me snapped back into it.

This one was taken back in 2024 as part of the Illuminated Abbey event in Whitby.

Scotia

So for those of you who didnt know me and have been away for a couple of weeks back up in the beauty of Scotland with our out of offices on and cameras in hand. 2,180 (and a half) miles later we got back on Wednesday and were back at work Thursday before a warm bank holiday.

I can't wait to show you where we've been so there'll be plenty of new Scotland photos to come as we get round to it but first this drone shot from the Great Polish Map of Scotland which is a beautiful scene and story the idea of a young Polish man who wanted to give back to Scotland after having been treat so nicely following an injury. Him, exchange students and colleagues ended up spending 5 summers to create this masterpiece with him quoted as saying "I shall die, but I shall leave my Map as a gift to the Scottish people to thank them for the hospitality they showed the Poles when it was needed"

Last Light of Llanddwyn

A lovely sunset during our 2024 Wales trip during our first stop out on Anglesey was much welcomed. If only the whole trip had as amazing light as this night as we got lovely golden side light followed by pastel pinks following the sun dipping below the horizon. A beautiful evening in an equally beautiful location with the lighthouse of Llanddwyn island catching the last light of the day.

Steetley Spectacular

The start of what was an unforgettable and successful night of aurora hunting saw us heading north to Steetley Pier. The old disused pier acting as foreground to the spectacular aurora show that was going on in the sky above. On a typical night of aurora hunting this would have sent you home happy but it wasn't a typical night as we ended up with overhead corona and strong aurora throughout the night that just took your breath away!

Blurred Beauty

An image I've had in my mind for a while. I figured it was one to take on those busy summer nights where the pier is filled with people galore having a wander along and taking in the last of the day's sun. In the end what happened was I'd parked on Marine Parade and was waiting for Laura as I had brought her camera so knew I couldn't stray far from the car so I decided to have an experiment and test my vision and in the end I blended 3 separate photographs into one to make up for a smaller number of people on the pier than planned but I quite liked the end result with the movement in both the water and the figures so couldn't not share it.
