🐾 We Need Your Help...

Over the past few months we've had the absolute pleasure of photographing some wonderful dogs as part of our Muddy Paws Project.

We've laughed, got muddy, met some incredible characters, and created photographs that celebrate the special bond between dogs and the people who love them.

Before we go any further, a huge thank you to everyone who took part. We have loved every minute of the project and meeting so many amazing dogs (and their humans!).

Now comes the difficult bit... we need to choose which image will take pride of place on our studio wall.

After much debate (and a fair amount of indecision!), we've narrowed it down to our four favourite layouts. To everyone whose image isn't in the final selection, please know it was an incredibly difficult decision. There were so many photographs we loved, and choosing just four felt almost impossible.

So we'd love your help.

Which one gets your vote? 🐾 1, 2, 3 or 4?

Pop your favourite in the comments below and feel free to tell us why.

We can't wait to see which one comes out on top! ❤

What A Month May Was!

After a few weeks away, it felt wonderful to get back behind the camera and into the rhythm of studio life. May was busy, creative, occasionally chaotic, but absolutely brilliant.

One of the highlights of our year is always our two-day Bootcamp. For two days, we immerse ourselves in all things portrait photography, sharing ideas, techniques, laughter, and plenty of coffee. This year’s group were fantastic, and it was a real pleasure to have them at the studio. Alongside the Bootcamp, we also welcomed photographers for a couple of focused 1:1 mentoring days, which are always hugely rewarding.

We’ve certainly been making the most of the glorious weather too. In fact, there were a few days when the studio air conditioning had to make an appearance to keep everyone cool. Not something we often say in Britain!

Photography-wise, it has been a month full of wonderful people. We enjoyed a beautiful location shoot near Henley, welcomed some amazing families to the studio, spent time with the lovely Dotty🐾 and Millie🐾, and one of the month’s real highlights was seeing Debra and Hearing Dog Valour 🐾 again for a portrait session.

As always, it’s the people who make these moments special. Whether you’ve joined us for a shoot, attended a workshop, trusted us with your photography, or simply followed along with what we’re up to, thank you.

We can’t wait to see what June has in store.

Ending Muddy Paws with Peak Puppy Energy 🐾

Meet the utterly adorable **Poppy🐾 & Pickle🐾**, 12-week-old Pomskies who arrived at the studio looking like tiny, fluffy angels.

And what made the shoot even more special was seeing one of our lovely Le Manoir wedding couples again… now navigating life with two tiny furry tornadoes instead of a seating plan.

Honestly, they may look calm and innocent in the finished photographs, but if you watch the little video from the start of the shoot you’ll quickly realise puppy photography mostly involves laughter, chaos, squeaky noises, and hoping somebody looks vaguely in the right direction at the same time.

And unbelievably, this was actually our final Muddy Paws shoot… which means next week is decision time as we somehow try and choose the finalists. Honestly, after months of wonderful dogs, lovely owners, muddy paws, wagging tails and total chaos, we may genuinely need emotional support. Thank you to everyone who has made this such a brilliant project.

Still… Puppy Photographer might just be the best job in the world ❤🐾xx

One of the truly lovely things about this job is getting to watch families grow over the years.

Back in 2012, we had the huge privilege of photographing Kathryn & Kevin’s beautiful wedding at Caswell House. Then, some years later, along came Rory… and now, in 2026, the family has welcomed Rames 🐾.

Rames is an 11-month-old Border Terrier with an enormous personality. Sassy, sensitive, endlessly cuddly, and very much at the centre of everything.

What was so lovely to watch during the shoot was the bond between Rory and Rames. Completely natural, completely joyful, and full of those little moments that you simply can’t stage.

It honestly felt like catching up with old friends a few weeks ago, and it’s such a privilege to create another piece of artwork for their home marking yet another chapter in their lives.

Watching families grow like this is one of the parts of photography I will never stop loving. Thank you for coming to see us ❤🐾

April… a little different
Instead of the studio, Sarah and I have been on board Crystal Serenity, sailing from Hong Kong to Mumbai as part of the Master Photographers programme. And if I’m honest, it’s been one of those experiences that’s quite hard to put neatly into words.

We’ve seen places we never quite imagined we’d see, met some truly wonderful people, and found ourselves photographing moments that feel a long way from our usual day-to-day.

We started working with Crystal Cruises 11 years ago, which in itself feels slightly surreal. One of the real joys now is recognising faces, catching up with people we’ve met over the years, and feeling that sense of familiarity in the middle of something that still feels like an adventure.

Trying to choose just a handful of images from the month has been… well, almost impossible. So this is really just a small flavour.

From the ever-brilliant Alexa and Ferenc, the dance ambassadors, the loveliest clients you could hope to meet, including Rudi (who is 88 and puts most of us to shame) and the wonderfully Tommy ‘Crystal Royalty.’

And then, just to keep things interesting, we found ourselves on safari in Sri Lanka, watching elephants in the wild, including two baby elephants that were, quite honestly, ridiculously cute.

There were quieter moments too. Photographing a drummer in a Hindu temple, completely lost in the rhythm. Standing and watching a welder at work in Mumbai, absorbed in what he was doing. Those little slices of life that somehow stay with you.

And yes… we did make it to the top of Marina Bay Sands for a Singapore Sling. It would have felt rude not to.

Now we’re back in the studio for a busy bank holiday weekend, which feels wonderfully familiar.

We’re hugely grateful for the experiences, both away and at home ❤x

**A rare space has just opened up…**

We’ve had one delegate, unfortunately unable to attend our **Mastering Portrait Photography Bootcamp**(11th–12th May) due to a hospital appointment, which means we now have ONE SPACE available.

The Bootcamp has been fully booked for quite some time, so this doesn’t happen very often.

This is our annual, most immersive two-day workshop. It’s designed to reignite your creativity, push your portrait skills, and give you the time to properly dive into all things photography.

Across the two days, we cover available light, off-camera lighting, and spend plenty of time in the studio - working with models, trying things out, refining ideas, and building confidence behind the camera.

You will leave with a new burst of enthusiasm!

It’s hands-on, small group, and has been fully booked for months, so this isn’t something that comes up very often.

Billie & Bertie's (not so) Muddy Paws in the studio 🐾

We had a feeling this was going to be a good one…

Anna, who runs Omidog grooming salon (and keeps our Rufus🐾 looking very handsome), brought along Billie and Bertie, and as you’d expect… they arrived looking absolutely immaculate. Not just beautiful, but smelling rather wonderful too.

Rufus always loves his visits to Anna. There are treats, a lot of fuss, and he comes back looking like a completely different dog.

Billie, a four-year-old Tibetan Terrier, has the most incredible long coat, and from the moment we saw her, we had visions of that hair flying everywhere. Bertie, a ten year old Lowchen, brought a slightly calmer energy to the shoot… although he was just as happy to get involved!

We started in the studio with some gorgeous portraits, then headed out into the garden to see what we could create.

Now… quite how Billie manages to see and run at the same time remains something of a mystery. There were moments where she seemed to be operating entirely on instinct… but somehow, it all worked beautifully. And Bertie, quietly taking it all in, made sure we captured some lovely moments of him too.

It was one of those shoots that was just brilliant fun from start to finish.

And now, of course…how do you choose? 🐾❤

Reggie's Muddy Paws in the studio 🐾

Every now and then, a dog walks into the studio and completely resets your idea of scale.
Reggie, a one-year-old Irish Wolfhound, did exactly that.

When we opened the door and he bounded in… well, “huge” doesn’t quite cover it. Enormous, yes. But also gentle, inquisitive, and completely adorable.

We had to include a shot on the chaise just to give some sense of perspective, otherwise no one would quite believe it.

I did try one of my favourite setups, where you see the owner’s feet and the dog looking up at them… except in this case, Reggie was pretty much eye-to-eye with Claire!! Which made us all laugh. Quite a lot. 🤣

Reggie was brilliant, expressive, and just a joy to photograph.

Another one where… how on earth do you choose? 🐾❤

PS Sorry for the gap in posting. We are working away and the internet has been very hit and miss. Will catch up this week :) x
